The trans has been my concern from the start. . . Yet here Ford comes with their turbo, tune, intercooler package from factory.. (300T)
So, clearly Ford is pushing over their own limits/ratings... I still question this weak link.

Lobo should have been a 6MT so we don't have to deal with this stupid auto trans limitation.
OR, there is a need for a 'built' 7/8 speed auto that can hold the 350+ numbers.
Especially a forged 2.0L with big turbo on Ethanol.
A Sleeper pickup.

In my early days, I was a V8 S10 driver.. RWD-only with ~350 hp/torque was a fun package. But clearly tough to launch with a ~3000 RPM stall torque converter. And it had no where near the cornering capability as the Mav.

After experiencing the 2.0L EcoBoost in the Focus ST I've seen the potential for the platform. I just want that in my Lobo. But reliable, w/o breaking transmission parts.. I'll 6MT swap when possible.
A 6MT could be possible?! Focus ST

I’d like to be able to “burn rubber” “peel out” “smoke the tires” in my Lobo!

Never tried - don’t know if it is possible with or without a tune:)
I could absolutely get behind you on that!

If this is a reply to the Dyno graph i posted, i am not the OP.
This is just an existing dyno graph from their 2022-2024 2.0L tuning.

I think Brent teased us all too early. :D
sorry, yeah, I thought u had the original post. anyways, I'd be curious about boost curves if they supply them. also very interested in if all these tuners are messing with the torque management plots from OEM. in road racing we break transmissions during shifts and dynamic shock loading, very rarely will something blow up when it's already in gear.

Transmission: 7-Speed "Quick Shift" Automatic with paddle shifters.

Stock Rating (~280 lb-ft): The base 8F35 transmission (used in regular Mavericks) is typically rated for around 260–280 lb-ft of torque. Ford is running this transmission very close to its "official" limit right out of the box.

The "Lobo" Upgrades: The Lobo’s 7-speed is a modified version of the 8F35. It features upgraded cooling (larger radiator and a dedicated transmission oil cooler). This suggests it can handle sustained high-stress driving (like autocross) better than the standard unit, but it doesn't necessarily mean the internal gears are significantly stronger.

The "Safe" Tuning Limit (~330 lb-ft / 300 hp): In the tuning community (using software like COBB), many Maverick owners push the 2.0L EcoBoost to around 300 hp and 330 lb-ft without immediate transmission failure. However, exceeding 350 lb-ft of torque is generally considered the "danger zone" where the internal clutches may begin to slip or heat damage occurs.
IIRC a guy on here has his 22-24 2.0 EB Maverick Tuned and tows with it and it has some higher miles on it and he said he hasn't had any transmission issues!!

There’s no replacement for displacement.

But my Eco Lariat is a blast in Sport Mode !

Ok guys I got it back!!!! This is fun holy crap you hit the peddle and it just goes. So they will have the 2025 up soon. I love the fact it’s plug and play nothing to flash and I can take it off for smog here in cali and put it back on after. They said it’s still an Alpha build I am dropping the peddle to the floor and sending them data.

Thanks for the update.

Are you running through the gears in auto for their logs?
OR manual mode and 3rd gear pulls?

318 torque on 91 octane? (+52 over stock) Interesting torque Curves..that peak torque moved further out to 3k. That linearity of torque on Map4 Looks impressive. 250+ torque to ~5300
and +43 HP over stock.

You in a 2025 Lobo?

So are they still tuning further? based on your real world data?

Yes 25 Lobo and yes they are still tuning it based on logs I’m sending them I pulled a few (5 or 6) full throttle today on 91. I did some in sport and some in normal. I have not pulled any yet in lobo mode. I will try that tomorrow.

Do they intend to develop an 'off the shelf' tune for any/all stock Lobos?

Or do they do custom tunes for all?

Will you/they do any Ethanol tuning?

My guess they will have an off the shelf for all 25+ until the ecoboost changes again. Look into the JB4 tuner its pretty customizable it self. Its connected to your phone and you can change the different MAPs from there phone app. One of the maps lets you adjust boost per gear if you want to mess with things yourself. I will keep sending them Data they will send me firmware updates in the future with changes and improvements. I am looking into an intercooler, exhaust, ect. The truck only has 1,300 miles on it and the last 300 have been super fun. I babied it for the first 1000 and now im going to step things up a bit. Its just a 2.0 but its still fun to rip around.

Is 5th or 6th gear a 1:1 ratio in these 7-8 speed automatics?
