After doing quite a bit of searching, nothing on the forum quite matches what I’m experincing.

Ecoboost FX4 4k with 11,000 miles. There’s a drone/hum, especially noticeable between 15-30mph, but always present regardless of speed. I’ve ruled out the similar “lugging” and stop/start issues.
  • At 30mph noise doesn’t change when shifted to neutral or back to drive
  • turning left or right has no effect
  • Different drive modes have no effect
  • All stock, no lift.
The dealer has been unhelpful at best. I suspected a wheel bearing even though some of the symptoms were a little off. Last time they had the truck for 7 hours and at the end the writer called and thought maybe the tires were “cupped/feathered” because the alignment looked “ok” (stock Pirelli Scorpion ATRs). They cross-rotated the tires. When I inquired about the alignment he said they didn’t actually do one and didn’t have time that day. Honestly, I’m not even sure they drove it. There are no notes from the tech at all on the invoice.

I was considering replacing the tires anyway so I did that, went with the Wildpeaks, the noise is still present, not real difference. I’m taking it to an independent shop for an alignment on the new tires and maybe they can look at it. The dealer service department shows absolutely 0 interest in doing warranty work, they’ve also brushed me off about the airbag recall saying “oh yeah, the parts are on order”-they aren’t, as I confirmed this visit.

Anyone else have a similar symptom?

Have you recorded the sound and compared it to the sound of failed wheel barrings you can find online?

I haven’t recorded it, no, but I have watched a number of the videos and the sound is slightly different on average. The videos tend to have an oscillation to the noise where this is more of a constant.

We’ll see tomorrow if I can get it in. It’s only been doing this the last few months so something has definitely changed.

i got tired of trying to deal with Ford “service” and the other issues. I got 30k on trade so it’s gone and I’ll never know.

Well, I got that offer from Carvana and the dealer matched it. That was with 26k miles too.

Mine is making a rear noise I took fit to the dealer last year, about the rear brake grabbing, they were no help at all. What happened with yours

Yes I am having the same issue , it started with brakes in the rear being grippy when I first took off now I have a awful howling from the rear, the dealer blew me off.

Same for me, but I can’t say what it was; I ended up trading the truck in. Good luck!

I have a 24 base level Maverick and have had the droaning noise since the truck was new. I did notice that in sports mode it is reduced . I am a retired Toyota tech and we had a similar issue with the Rav 4 that required replacement of the magnetic clutch assembly on the transaxle assemblies. The first release on the repair was changing the oil in the unit to see if the noise changed. Anyway , I now have eleven thousand miles on my Ford and the noise has remained the same.
I myself plan on getting a larger truck in the summer so I will live with it for now. This noise is not a wheel bearing or tire noise so don't waste your money. It will probably end up being some type of update that will effect shift points in the eight speed transmission. Good luck everyone

I've been searching for similar threads for "wheel hum", so far this is the closest I find.

My noise seems to be from the front wheels, mostly drivers’ side but that's the side I drive from so most likely to hear it that way.

Most noticeable at low speeds 35 and under and more noticeable when decelerating.
Had my private mechanic look at it, he thought tires, until I drove it for him so he could hear it. He did check for tire cupping and didn’t think it was the tires.

Took it to a dealer who claimed not to hear it, they said they rotated the tires (which I paid them $20 for) but the noise is still there.

It did not start making this hum until after 10,00 miles.

Anyone have a similar experience with an EcoBoost model?

I see a few folks speaking of the Hybrid and CV joints.

There is no shuttering when braking and the vehicle tracks well.
