So normally I drive this truck everyday. However the one time I let it sit for two days in my garage something got into the HVAC system and chewed up my cabin air filter. I took out the cabin air filter and with it removed it still is loud and humming (Yes I know its loud but this is a new super annoying noise) Now that i cleaned it up and have no filter in it and it is still making that noise do you think I need to replace the blower motor ? Has anyone replaced it DIY ? or do I need to bend over and take it in to ford ?

If this happens again, make sure you vacuum everything out as soon as you notice the damaged to the filter. If the rodent got stuff, like nuts or chewed out bits of the filter into the blower motor it could be damaged. I sure hope you don't need to replace the motor, on most vehicles that is a huge job, as in the dash likely needs to be removed. You'd be looking at at least a day or two for labour alone, one day to take it out, one to put it back in on top of time to install the part.

Are rodent carcasses or nests covered by comprehensive (act-of-God) part of policy?
One ate harness of my 2018 Nissan which was $5400.00 and was covered.

Good news I found a small camera and found more fiberglass in the cage I took a super thin flexible shop vac hose used for dryer vent cleaning and it now sounds normal !

Had the same trouble with my Ranger and wife's Subaru... I ended up slipping some small pieces of chicken-wire into the air-intake housings... not enough to hinder the air, just the mice... I would like to do the same with the Mav, but the intake seems not as accessible? and, I don't want to start pulling things apart!... it's an obvious design flaw across all vehicles :( The smell of decaying rodents can be a little annoying, imho?!!! 😷

So another update. I got the humming noise and sure enough insulation in the blower cage. I took it out and its all normal however this time the filter was intact ? I parked it outside and not in the garage thinking that could be the issue I'm not sure what to do at this point. Maybe over night I can try and leave a sticky trap and see if I catch him ? I don't wanna use poison on it since well if it crawls behind that dash and dies it will smell awful. My thing is If he was coming from the engine bay would it he HAVE to get past the filter ? Any suggestions ?

Having a few Feral Cats around the house will help cure future instances. Just a thought :like:
