Next time we will pile sleeping bags and pillows into the bed and watch from the bed of the truck. We usually bring a battery powered radio and that works really well. It should be easier to get in and out of since it's lower to the ground. Our Sierra 1500 sat so high off the ground I had to bring a step ladder for the wife and kids to get in and out!

As a person waiting on my Maverick who frequents a drive in movie theater, it's actually super helpful to know the accessories shut down after thirty minutes. Yikes, that's frustrating.

Maybe I'll start bringing a separate radio so I don't have to deal with that every thirty minutes during a double feature...
I hope you get yours as scheduled. I missed ordering last year and now the same Maverick will cost an additional 4K for my Area 51 XLT Lariat Luxury with 360. It is supposedly ordered and the dealer took my 1K deposit so now it is just wait and see.

To see how small the truck is actually. Here is the same setup in a Prius. Yes the ‘bed’ of a Prius is longer than Maverick.

I have a build date for the week of 10/24 10/31, so I'm hoping to get it before Christmas

Took my Maverick to see Maverick. Only problem I had was having the radio shut off every 30 minutes.

We'll see! I think they fit 4 girls overall and I don't know the sitting/lying arrangement they used. Could be years away before every getting to try, if our hybrid order is ever built....
Width may be more of an issue but the good thing about the bed is it very customizable. A platform could be built to sit on the wheel wells with the and extend onto the gate with a little creativeness.

Now this looks like a man about to enjoy an action movie which is on his "bucket list". You should ask Home Depot for a gift card for your advertising. I guess that bucket is too orange to match the cyber "yellow" orange maverick??? Enjoy the movie!!!

Picked up our 2022 Maverick XLT Saturday and promptly took it to our favorite drive-in. This thing really is drive-in friendly. We watched the movie (Don’t Worry Darling) facing forward from inside the truck. Turned the headlights/parking lights off with the knob. I wondered how distracting the interior lights might be but we had no problems because the screen has a blackout feature. Press the dash button once and it goes to black screen with only a clock. Press it again and it goes totally dark. Only minor annoyance was the accessory feature shuts down after 30 minutes but it is simple to turn the key off and back to accessory for another 30 minutes. Headlights/parking lights stayed off. I wish I could set the timeout for that. Missed some dialogue during a scene because I had to reset the accessory mode.

Since my XLT uses a key I have to wonder how these things would work in a push-to-start truck.

anyway, thought I would share our experience for others to learn from.

With push to start, you can push the <start> button without depressing the brake to engage ACC mode. You must have the break depressed while pushing the <start> button in order to drive [Ready].

Played drive in mode ( could not sleep ) it takes a very fast flick off-on of keys in my xl to reset radio timer for another 30 mins without flashing headlights.
3rd reset only lasted 10mins. Had no change in voltage level during 1:30 test. Remained a steady 11.8 v
4th reset only lasted 5mins… weird still no change in voltage.

It's not an uncommon feature. My wife's car a 2000 cavalier used to do this and drive me nuts.

It's almost like manufacturers forget people want to use Acc mode for long periods. I mean, I'm an adult. I carry jumper cables. sheesh!

The drive-ins of my youth had a speaker that you hung on your window. No need to use the radio. Of course the sound quality sucked but we didn’t care. It’s the ambiance of watching under the stars with a mild breeze blowing that we were there for. Plus, if the movie sucked you could play at the playground. :)
