Drive.com.au put out a review of the 2023 Maverick pretty much asking Ford to release it in Australia.

Ford can’t keep up demand in the Americas, Australia would be even more demand the Ute has a long successful history for Ford there.
Having watched 3 Australia travel related movies over the decades, there seems to have an issue hoardings gas and wild dust filled mayhem that it brings. A few thousand hybrids may keep them from going feral.

What's weird is the how Ute- ish vehicles flat wouldn't sell in the US before the Maverick and Santa Cruz. GM had that problem with the Escalade Pickup/Avalanche, Subaru with the Baja, and from what I gather Toyota was having the same problems with the Ridgeline. For whatever reason, we just didn't want to cross the car and truck streams.

Do you mean the Honda Ridgeline? You're right, Toyota DOES have problems selling those 😉

But the difference here is that the Maverick (and Santa Cruz) are significantly larger than vehicles like the Baja, and have the utility of traditional small trucks even though they're built on a car platform. And, at the moment, there aren't any other vehicles in their segment -- which is why they're doing better than ones like the Avalanche that had to compete with a more crowded market

How do you review a 2023 Maverick when none have been built?

The population of Australia is about 7.5% of the US. They could probably sell 100% more Mavericks in the US if they could make them. Most people here have never even heard of this truck.

There are press cars, just like 2022 review units were out before any customer units got built.

I just mean, they are still building customers 2022's, not sure how one built before those could be considered a 2023.

Maybe he bought a seat on those crazy things called airplanes?

Plus he's driving on the right side of the road and asked Ford to build a right hand drive for Australia.

It works like this - Ford hands reporter a car and says "This is a 2023." 😆

I mean, the only real difference between 2022s and 2023s is cruise control on the XL model, so it doesn't really matter. 😆

They drive on the left in Australia and the steering wheel is on the other(right) side of the car. In the video he was driving on the right and the steering wheel was normal left side of the car. He was in the US.
