I park in a parking garage at work and it never ceases to amaze me how careless people can be when dealing with other people’s property. I picked up my truck a couple of days ago and I have been freaking out about parking on Monday morning and worrying about how many dings and scratches I will find when I leave work. I saw some magnetic protector strips online but they were freakishly expensive, so off to Home Depot I went. Two packs of magnets, two pipe insulator “noodles” and some electrical tape. I taped a magnet to both ends of the “noodle”, wrapping them thoroughly to prevent the paint and stuck them on. I need to add a couple more magnets in the middle but they work for now. People probably think I’m nuts but I want the comfort of knowing I did everything I could to protect my truck!

I think your best bet is to park away from others as much as possible. Avoid those compact parking spaces. It's amazing how most people don't care about their vehicles. I see it all the time. Just to get a parking spot close to the entrance, people will park in very tight spaces so they don't have to walk much. Its inevitable tho. Some idiot will still hit your truck eventually. Either with a door, a runaway shopping cart, etc. I've even gotten door dings on my hood, how does that happen?

I was planning on getting body side molding, however, my thought was to put it lower, right next to the lower body crease (if in fact that is the area that protrudes out the furthest on the door).

I installed these on mine, they're very well made, good directions, fit well, and perfect paint match.
I bought these too for my Alto blue and they do match exactly. I just haven't made the time to install them. The directions are simple and they attach while sliding the 3M tape covering off the adhesive side. I agree, they appear to be well made.

Might be a little tricky putting it near the lower crease because of the length of the moldings and the curvature of the door panels near the crease. You could place the moldings lower than shown in the photo as long as you have flat spot to apply them to without twisting. The moldings are fairly rigid.

They offer a version sized to mount along that lower crease or ridge.

In your situation I would get 2" foam board, cut in 4x4 squares, contour the inside to the truck, glue magnets on it and line both sides of the truck.

I don't think you are nuts. Not at all. I just think, that maybe you can do more. Never, ever underestimate the power of stupidity. :ROFLMAO:
This might be the most humorous, entertaining, jovial, flat out insult I have ever read.

Most impressive.

Cutting the 4"x4" squares got me to thinking about reactive tank armor!
