They are in cahoots and not to save you 15% on your car insurance either...lolProbably. Your phone spies on you, so why shouldn't your car.
There is good reason to hang onto or to get a Garmin. Just don't install their app and pair it to the GPS or you are back into a very similar situation.Read the fine print when you sign up for the Fordpass app, that is why they goat you into it by keeping navigation dependent on your approval. Just you Waze or buy a GPS and forget Ford.
While true there are actually laws about what your cell phone carrier can and cannot do. However it is those apps that you install that are the wild west. Everyone has choices to make about what they install, what they give permissions to, and if they are going to carry a phone or not. Some phones still are listening when off. You can choose to put them in something that blocks it so you have a phone if you need it, or decide to not take it with you. The issue is the wild west attitude of companies and app developers to collect data from anyplace they can. You have to decide if you are going to allow it or not. If you don't care then this thread wasn't for you. That phone in your pocket tracks you even when off.
It is difficult to anticipate what they will do with the data. I use for example, a family took advantage of a free trial period of the Disney channel, but as usual had to give them their payment info and agree to terms and conditions. Years later if I remember correctly, the child was injured at the theme park. When the family went to sue, Disney's lawyers produced the terms and conditions they agreed to, which nullified their right to sue Disney. And yes, everyone argued those agreements were for the trial period of the Disney channel. It had the usual mumbo jumbo to protect Disney, and it didn't stop with the TV channel. So, again you don't know what evil it will bind you too....Or just not worry about it. I don't. I'm too close to the end instead of the beginning to worry about Ford or Google or anyone else spying on me. If they do they will see I walk around naked and scratch my butt all day![]()
Are you paranoid if they really are out to get you????I hate to be paranoid,, but does my 2024 Maverick report my driving habits to anyone? LexisNexis, ,etc. I know that some vehicles allow you to report the data for a lower insurance premium, but doesn't do it automatically? Thanks. I have to go now, someone's after me. steve
