Does any maverick trim have TPMS? A base subaru forester...more roomy...no pickup bed....is better equipped for $25k and 33mph highway...just comparing and saw the base model includes TPMS which I check often.

Thanks.
The problem with Subaru TPMS (unless they’ve changed since 2017) is that if you have a second set of winter tires with TPMS sensors, you have to go into the dealer every time you switch tires to have them reprogram the sensors… big hassle. With Ford you switch tires and in a mile or two the vehicle recognizes the new sensors and adjusts itself.

Doesn't AWD require same size tires? I know if you had a blowout on a Subaru and you had to replace a tire you had to check measurements. If it was too much difference I believe I had to replace either all of the tires or the two front or rear, whichever the case. But that got expensive.
It’s the difference in AWD systems. Subaru has power to all four wheels all the time (in varying percentages); Ford and many others run in FWD only until the system detects wheel slip and then diverts a percentage of power to the rear wheels.

If someone sees this as a concern, can't they just get a TPMS installed in the spare?
If not, why not?
I'm not concerned, but I do like the idea. I think I'll have one installed.
I have to wonder if this will confuse the system, If its set up for 4 TPMS and you have 5. unless the info screen has a slot to list the spares pressure.

How can you have an AWD system with a spare that is over an inch shorter than the other 4. Using such a different tire size would be the biggest no-no with an AWD. Can someone confirm this is a FWD and not AWD?

Ford Maverick Does full size spare have TPMS? tirelabel-
I can't confirm that particular build is FWD or AWD, but I can confirm my AWD came with the same as a "Full Sized Spare". Probably my only disappointment with the truck. But since I was changing them all out, it ended up not affecting me, other than selling the old tires.

For those who keep asking "is TPMS installed in the spare" why does that even matter.

It is a SPARE. It is meant for use temporarily until the original is repaired or replaced.

From the manual pg 346:

Have a flat serviced by an authorized dealer to prevent damage to the system sensors. See Tire Pressure Monitoring System Precautions (page 343). Replace the spare tire with a road tire as soon as possible. During repairing or replacing the flat tire, have the authorized dealer inspect the system sensor for damage.

Also:

At least once a month and before long trips, inspect each tire and check the tire pressure with a tire gauge. Inflate all tires to the recommended inflation pressure.

That means all tires including the SPARE.

I wasn’t clear....many cars have the TPMS as an idiot light, but in the subaru it has a screen with the individual pressures listed...not simply a ”tire!“ icon.....has anyone seen if the maverick has the individual pressures in a menu or screen? It‘s nice to see if one tire is low and which one rather than manually checking the pressure to find the offending tire.

Thanks...
There are (at least) two different systems. Here's my understanding of it, but I'm no expert and would welcome corrections:

1. Direct individual sensors in each tire and you typically get the individual readouts. You have to be careful when rotating the tires and such to make sure the computer knows which sensor is in which tire. This is how you would probably guess that the system works if you didn't know anything about it.

2. Indirect detection of pressure changes. I've seen this in Hondas (probably other places, too). You tell it when you have set the pressure correctly, and it calibrates various sensors (I think it uses the same sensors that it uses for traction control, stability control, ABS braking, etc.) and then watches for those readings to change. If they deviate too far from the calibration, it turns on the light. There are no direct pressure sensors in the individual tires. It doesn't measure pressures, it detects changes in pressure. I once got a new set of tires on a Honda and the guy had to go back and delete the TPMS sensor replacement fee since it used the other system.

My impression is that the first system is the more common, but I don't really know.

Same here. Oh well, guess I'll be looking for a real wheel and tire when and if I ever get my Maverick Hybrid.

EDIT: Thinking about canceling the upgrade wheels and buying my own.
This is what I'm going to do. Just gonna scavenge a cheap 17" rim for the spare and slap the cheapest tire I can find that's the same size as what's on the truck. Not bothering with a 5 tire rotation. All it has to do is get me to the tire shop. The only reason I want to ditch the doughnut is because if I get a flat while towing and am far from home I don't want to be stuck with the doughnut.

The "full sized spare" actually isn't that bad; for a rim and tire it's a lot cheaper than buying from a tire shop but it's on the expensive side for just a rim and I want matching tire sizes.

My last two Fords didn't come with a TPMS in the spare. Actually there wasn't even a spare, or a jack and the fitted tires weren't extremely expensive run flats either, so be happy with what we're getting as we'll be able to make it to a repair shop or even a Walmart . I only had a very nice air pump and a jug of what I presume was fix a flat chemicals that came with both cars. I did have Brembo brakes though. PS: and I always carry a plug kit and an air pump, spare or not!

Yeah kia doesn't do spares anymore. My wife got a kia soul and all it had was the stop leak and pump. First thing we did was buy a doughnut spare since that's all that would fit. Had to buy a jack and lug wrench too IIRC.

In my car I now keep a tire plug kit and 12v compressor. Last flat I had the plastic knob holding the spare down broke because the retaining screw rusted and seized. Couldn't get the spare out for want of a pair of vice grips. Never again.

It is a Full Size spare if you ordered any of the Following Configurations:

Hybrid:

Ordering:
Co-Pilot360: Full Size Spare is included
Or you selected the optional Full Size spare for $115

EcoBoost:
you selected the optional Full Size spare for $115
Steve,

I got the Hybrid with co-pilot360 but I did not get the full size spare. The spare tire is 215/60/R17, the tires on the wheel is 225/65/R17. On the window sticker it says full size spare. Can you please check your spare tire size and let me know if it is a full size spare.

Okay, I'll bite; HOW can Ford advertise and sell a Full Size Tire that is less than Full Size?
Full size, not same size😩

Looks like all Mavericks come with two different spare tires:

1. a space saver spare tire, donut, or temporary tire, size T155/70D17
2. If you purchase a hybrid or pay extra for a so called "Full Size Spare" surprise, the size is 215/60R17 . This is not the same as the OEM tire/rim on any Maverick.

This information is shown on the Placard located on the driver side door jam.

Please note, the factory spare does not have a Ford OEM TPMS factory sensor.

If your looking for a true "Full Size Spare" size 225/65R17, we have 3 like new with delivery miles, factory OEM Maverick 17" Steel wheel / Continental tire combo. This wheel/tire combo comes with the Ford OEM TPMS factory sensor and will be immediately recognized by your vehicle. Buy one (1) Ford Maverick Wheel and Tire combo and you will get a FREE New Gentex Homelink Auto Dimming Mirror with Compass. Easy to install and looks factory OEM. No more using a separate remote/clicker to open 3 Garage Doors, Entry Gates, or activate Homelink compatible Light systems.

Size 17" x 7
Bolt Pattern 5 x 108mm
Tire Brand: Continental ProContact TX
Tire Size: 225/65R17
Treadware rating of 500

Located in the North Atlanta Georgia area. Please send a message/conversation if interested. $199 local pickup. However, if you have the ability to have shipped at your expense, we will assist in any way possible.
