It's a stupid way for Ford to save money on plastic.
MaybeThere is a chip reader in there.
It's for the folks that are on the
"Pay As You Drive Plan." (Kind of like the quarter meter plan)
Before they can start their Maverick. They have to insert their credit card. When they are done driving they can pull it out.
It's also used to make your monthly payment.
Disclaimer: Just kidding..,.. maybe
This actually makes the most sense.
It would also explain why it's not on the Lariat...not many companies using Lariats for a fleet vehicle.
A "toll" card slot would make sense too.

Has anyone ever tried to see how deep the slot is? Does it have magical properties? If something falls in there will the earths poles change? Ford should tell us so we won’t lose our AMEX cards in it. For all we know it could be a portal to an alternative universe.I have no idea what this is for.....?

Someone told me it was a handy place to temporarily position your credit card or toll road ticket, while going throug the drive-thru, etc. I don't have this on my '23 XLT.I have no idea what this is for.....?
