Got my scheduling email today! Ordered back in September 2022. Ordered a 2023 Lariat Tremor.

The day I went to order I didn't have to pay any down payment. My concern is if I have any leverage now to make sure the dealer doesn't try to add any charges above MSRP.

Any suggestions on what I can do to prevent this?
Is it too late to do anything about it and will I just have to see what happens when I go in for the pickup and finalize the purchase?

My idea was to see if I could cancel the order if I can't get a guarantee MSRP price from them before the delivery day? I'm honestly worried they ordered it for me just so they can overcharge me and then sell it themselves and make a huge profit.

Some dealers you are okay, others you will not be okay. You should go talk with your salesman/dealer. You are right though, they have all the leverage and you have to hope they are trying to build loyalty instead of a pile of cash.

These are questions you should have asked when you were shopping for a dealer to place the order. I got written guarantees from my dealer on all the sticky points. No ADM, price protection, dealer installed accessories, etc. I came away with a DORA Preview sheet that had the pricing and they also made a sales agreement that included all fees including tax, title, etc. It was signed by both parties.

Did you get anything in writing that was signed by the dealership?

Same here. There are no doubts what I ordered and what the price will be.

Did you sign anything or have them provide you anything signed? MY dealer gave me a signed by both sides, out-the-door price sheet.

Nothing signed just the order invoice summary.

I researched too late on what to get from them initially. So I guess I got no leverage : ( that sucks.

No upfront research/signatures then you need to rub a rabbit's foot while searching for a 4 leaf clover.

Wish me luck everyone. I guess I'll just go in on pickup day and hope my dealer is reputable. If worse comes to worst I will have to resort to telling them I will post all about the bad experience. Albeit I was the fool who didn't get anything in writing first. Sucks that it even has to be something we have to worry about. I will also post if it turns out my dealer is a good one. Thanks for the advice everyone.

My salesperson verified by email that it would be MSRP and nothing added I did not want. Of course that would not really be legally binding but that's what they did when I picked it up. They tried to sell me a couple of things I did not want but they were cool about it.

You could contact them now so at least you would know sooner rather than later.

My dealer gave me an out the door price in Sept. However, wouldn't guarantee there would not be a price increase when (and if) vehicle arrives.

If you cancel, they will be happy. They will still get the truck and will be able to sell it with market adjustment.

Basically your only 'leverage" is giving them bad reviews

Stand your ground if they try something , get your financing before you go, Do NOT buy an extended warranty from Slimy Sammy the finance man, you can get it much cheaper after and finance it at no cost per month....... most dealers are honest about the actual price it is the finance where they get ya ;0
