Do Fender Flares Change the Maverick Too Much?

Fender flares are one of those mods you don’t really notice until you see the before-and-after.

On some builds, they make the wheel area look more complete. On others, the clean factory look may fit better.

They can also add a little more coverage around the wheels for trucks that see dirt roads, rain, or messy weather.

Here are a few Mavericks with Mabett fender flares. What do you think—flares or stock?

I installed fender flares, tailgate lettering on my 2025 Maverick to dress it up a little. I have had many compliments from people coming to look at my truck. The truck color and fender flares match my wife's RAV-4.

Not just for protection from the "I dont care types who would also slam their door into a brick wall", but, the continuation of the matte black look of the current OEM plastic trim does give it a more cohesive appearance.

However... although Im satisified with the matte finish, some might even be interested in body color flares as well? My '13 F150 Lariat had factory flares that were body colored (via two tone or base only) that looked good and protected the sheet metal too.

Weve had Mabetts flares on our 2026 Lariat and they were easy to install and held up well for the past 3 months. Just would put on some matte protectant like Chemical Guys Matte protect every once in a while to help from UV fade.

#Mabett I have OEM mud flaps and want to reuse them. I want to purchase your fender flairs but I can't find a 100% answer on if they will work with the OEM mud flaps? Thanks

I don't have flairs and won't be installing them. If I had a different color I might. But the Atlas Blue Lariat looks more, I hate to say it this way, luxury than off road. I don;t want to cover the pretty blue paint . If I were to add flares based on threads here and on FB I would buy Mabett. Now if you had color matched I could be convinced to part with my money.

Yes, they will work with the OEM mud flaps.

No, that's not our taillight.

They prevent paint dings on the steel front fender edges when turning. Had to touch up paint a bit before install. Also absorbed the impact of a shopping cart on a couple occasions

We have a big 2012 F-150 crew cab 4X4 at work. It’s the, ‘Anybody can grab it truck, it sits a lot.
It has big meaty tires and fender flairs. These are obviously bigger than the Mav’s.
The big meaty tires do not stick out past the painted fenders at all.
On this truck the fender flairs ruin its looks but would be fine if it had wider tires.

I’m on the fence with the Maverick. I like Mabett’s the best, seen them on more than a few Mavericks in person. They enhance the look and can help protect the paint.

If I do add them my next tires will have to be
245/65R17

Time will tell.

I'm not for decorations that have no function. Fender Flares are designed to keep the tires within the wheel wells. If the tires fit within, no need for flares.
