I hate that honking that goes on when I accidentally push on the alarm button. And I do it all the time it seems. I was under the impression that I could disable that in ForScan so I will look for those posts here someday. Until then I am going to be bothered by the fob size and button pushing.
I have four sets of keys for the different trucks I need at work and office buildings and trailers. so all of them, the phones, the wallet, and my lunch all go in a backpack rather than on me. I have nerve problems in the back if I sit on a wallet so I don't do that anymore. The phones are for me to answer when I want to and so at lunch is a good time to catch up on messages.

If no message it was a spam call right?
You can disable the double honk while the truck is running and you get out then close the door, but not sure if you can disable the panic alarm. I don't think anyone has checked actually.

All I did was open up the FOB, cut away the silicon liner and remove the clicker inside then seal it back up with a small layer of silicon putty and reassemble. I never pressed the panic button on the exact same style FOB for my Escape but for some reason on the Maverick it happened way too often. No idea. So I removed the button. The FOB looks exactly the same as it did before.

Good Lord!! I try to travel light. My toolbox key for my work tool box key is on my ID badge around my neck. I have pared down the extra shit in my wallet, and periodically purge it of excess crap to keep it as thin as possible. I keep it in my front pocket to prevent lower back and sciatic nerve issues. Had a lower back disc issue, along with surgery and permanent nerve damage to my "clutch" leg.

Keys lol, my house and home shop keys are each on their own rings, and the only thing on the other ring is my maverick key, the key for the cable lock on the spare tire, and the locking tow hitch pin, along with a small remove before flight ribbon. I am a commercial aircraft mechanic after all. The only thing that connects all this is an S hook biner.

The only thing hanging in my ignition is the truck key and those other 2 keys with the remove before flight ribbon and the biner. I park in a secure parking facility, so when I leave home, the house and shop keys go right in the console.

My Maverick keys(topper key as well) do stay independent and don't always go in my pocket at the farm since I'm often soaked to the bone. All my dozen or so other keys are on one of those folding type key holders. It's like carrying a multi size Allen head set around. But yeah I often have week Wacker strings cuts, plastic trash, tools or whatever. I also use a 8 in tablet for a phone but that fits in my side or back pocket. When I worked in fence I usually had a 1/2"-9/16" ratchet wrench, fence pliers, and a level in my pocket along with everything else. Like I said I'm so dang big, anything under 10lbs that's attached to me doesn't weigh me down any. I will even carry a 20oz water bottle I my pocket or attached to my wallet chain. When I was in my 20s you never saw me without a summit racing catalogue in my back pocket also!

Now you can do the summit catalog online. I am never without my summit racing ball cap. At work they said our hats had to be patriotic or aircraft themed. Summit hat has an american flag. That's patriotic. So they let me wear it lol.

Hcopter,

Okay, I just bought one, so we will see if the proximity sensor works after I harden/waterproof the board with epoxy. I will just need to stay away from the battery area so I can change them out every few years. I will keep you posted here on this thread if it's cool with you. Wish me luck.
I'll be interested to see what you come up with. Remember, you can use a smaller battery like a 2032 to slim it down more, I would have used one but I didn't have one at hand when I was putting it together and figured the extra time the larger cell would last was a trade off for the size.

You could wear a Hooters hat. Its very American and owls have wings!

Also while the summit online catalogue is vast. It is utter crap compared to print. Most onlive catalogues group things all wrong based on keyword recognition. O ften have to go through the filters before I even think about typing in a word to find what I need.

Very true. All my fix it up junque is Chrysler stuff. Paper catalog has very little for me. The database however has a lot of stuff for me. Plus I'm only about a 2 hour drive from the Arlington Tx warehouse.

I remember a time when the Mopar crate motor section was 2 whole pages! But I hear ya, i have just been frustrated with the mobile version of it coming up on my laptop in the last few years. Back when I lived in ohio it was also an hour drive to Jegs and 2.5 hours to Summit. They always had the big catalogue there!

The case is two halves that snap together and can be pried apart at the seam.

All I did was remove the panic button clicker from the inside and I haven't had any issues since.
How much work is this? I keep setting the panic off if I just breathe too loud....

When I got my Mav
After trying two key fobs from Amazon that didn't want to work with intelligent access, then buying a different fob from eBay, I learned that our Mavericks only allow a maximum of 4 keys and it cost me a trip to the dealer and $80 (at least I was able to use Ford Pass points) to get the two bad keys removed so I could try the eBay key. Third time was a charm and this key works for intelligent access. So, I stripped it down to the bare PCB, attached the battery, protected the buttons, and put it in heat shrink. I used hot glue to seal the ends and put a hole in one end to hang it on the key hook. It ended up about 1/2 the thickness and weight of the original, much less obtrusive to carry in my pocket.

When I went to pick up my Maverick, I couldn't believe the size of the Key Fob. It is really beyond me what Ford is thinking to put that out there in 2022 and onward. I have had many key fobs in the past and none have been as obtrusive as this one is. I can't stand it. If they are not going to put out a REASONABLE size Key Fob then they should have one available as an option. I love my Maverick but Ford makes me think that they are successful in spite of the stupid and idiotic decisions they make.

Very easy to do. No de-soldering or anything like that.

If you look at your key fob, you can see where the battery compartment separates. Remove that first and the battery next, then the other two pieces need to be separated from there and the rest will come right out. Pry the two pieces apart with a knife ( I think I used an X-Acto for this step) or a plastic trim removal tool, just be careful. Wiggle your tool around until you get a decent separation then go around the edges to complete it. If you pry too hard or force it the plastic will bend and scratch.

One you have those two pieces apart, pull the PCB out. Take an X-Acto knife or a razor blade to the silicon housing around the panic button and make a small incision. Through that incision remove the plastic piece that comes in contact with the switch on the PCB. It will come right out, no prying, no force. It is not soldered to the board, it's simply a piece of plastic on top of the switch that comes in contact with the exterior button. Then simply put everything back together. You don't have to seal the silicon but I did with some clear silicon just to keep the PCB protected.

Now reassemble. Once reassembled, the panic button has nothing to come in contact with on the PCB. It will depress slightly, but without the switch behind it will be useless. Nothing looks modified and nothing is loose.

No more accidental panic button presses.

I bought my Maverick used and previous owner only turned in one key. So I got on eBay and found an exact match. It was for a 2017-2022 Edge. Bought it for $25 from great_keys. Took to the dealer where I bought my maverick and they programmed it for $50. Took 3 attempts but works like a charm.
so after you received the key from ebay where did you go to get the key "cut" to match your only maverick key? What was that charge?
How did you know the Edge key would serve as a maverick key? Thank you for any information

Thanks for is thread. I despise these ridiculously huge fobs. This thread will save me time in making something as small as possible.
