One thing I wanted to do to my Maverick is disable the panic alarm button on the key fob, which annoyingly gets triggered from me squatting and other keys depressing the button. So this morning I explored buying a TPU fob cover (which I may do anyway to protect the fob), physically opening the case and removing the rubber button, pouring epoxy around the button, etc. These are all methods people have used.

Then I ran across a thread for disabling the panic alarm mode using Forscan without doing anything to the fob. It had several options for the panic alarm button, with coded module numbers you had to modify. One of the options included setting the alarm to do nothing. However, when I connected Forscan to the BCM module, it only gave me only 2 options in plain English: Lights and Horn or Lights only. Good enough. I selected Lights only and wrote the changes. I assumed that meant my headlights would flash, but it's actually the emergency flashers that activate, so you can see it front and rear. Perfect, my neighbors will love me. The alarm is disabled, but I still get emergency flashers, which could help in locating my car at night when I can't locate it by the horn. I'm including a screenshot.

That is pretty ingenious. But I would lose the opportunity to get ugly looks from my daughter when I purposely trigger it when she is not expecting it...

Here are some other options that may be possible from the generic Ford instructions:

726-37-01 xxxx xxx0 xxxx - Panic alarm on fob disabled
726-37-01 xxxx xxx1 xxxx - Panic alarm on fob requires 2 presses
726-37-01 xxxx xxx2 xxxx - Panic alarm on fob enabled
726-01-02 xxx0 xxxx xxxx - Panic alarm - lights & horn
726-01-02 xxx1 xxxx xxxx - Panic alarm - lights only

Hunh. That's a good one. I'll have to remember it if I ever take mine to a tune shop.

On my last car I took the rubber out from the fob to stop that. Not sure if it's the same on ford fobs

I took the fob apart and ground the prong off the panic button. No more panic

You don't have to do this. You can leave the alarm enabled and in Forscan you have the option of lights blinking and alarm or just lights blinking, which is what I did.

Hey all...Know this thread is older but I have a 2022 EB Lariat and when the panic alarm is activated it won't deactivate via the FOB. I have to start the engine for it to go off..Any ideas?

Might sound weird, but I'd replace the battery in the FOB and try it again. If not, maybe something can be checked in FORScan.

Nice! I have set mine off a few times and I don't want to have to pry the fob apart unless I need to replace the battery. I need to turn off the double honk when closing the door while it's running also. Turning off the seatbelt chimes & graphics has been glorious (I still always wear it).

Follow-up on my earlier quote. My panic alarm reverted back to enabled. Not sure but am guessing it happened during one of the endless recalls on the Mav where they updated software. I need to hook up Forscan and do it again.

True, I had an update at the dealer & had to redo one of my BCM changes to get my dash from throwing the dash hyperflash for my LED bulbs.
