SWITCHING AUTOUNLOCK ON AND OFF

  1. Using the information display controls on the steering wheel, select Settings.
  2. Select Vehicle Settings.
  3. Switch Autounlock on or off.

Anyone have any luck here?
The scenario for me is:
- Drive to school, locks auto-lock @ 10mph or whatever
- Stop to pick up kid, I stay in the car, so nothing triggers auto-unlock. Other cars, shifting to P will do it.
- Or stop to drop off kid, I stay in the car, they exit the passenger seat and try to open the rear door to get their backpack and its locked.

So to me:
1. Ideally, shifting to P would auto-unlock. From what I read, Ford just doesn't do that on any vehicles.
2. Next best would be disable the auto-lock. Is it possible with some secret button combination or FORscan?

Or how do yall deal with this problem ? I would think this is a pretty common scenario.
Thanks!

I would press the unlock button on the door.
Which also allows the scan around vehicle for anyone approaching when not in the school drop-off line for security, before pressing unlock.
Or shoot, just at the gas station where depending on locale, any unlocked door is an invite for trouble, whether sitting in it or especially if not.

Glad I don't live where that would even be something to worry about.

Anyone with something a little more intelligent to offer than just snark?
So far I think we seem to be taking the option you gave in your last question:

"Or how do yall deal with this problem ? I would think this is a pretty common scenario.
Thanks!"

But now that a thread is being viewed - the bottom of page should show 5 similar threads for topic, a couple appear to have more comments on that Forscan ability.

Well, you described it as a "problem," but clearly for most, it is not one. The idea of all four of my doors unlocking every time I shift into Park seems completely insane. Especially when all of the doors will allow free egress when the interior lever is pulled, regardless of lock status. I don't live in a war zone, but all "auto-unlocking" does is help people enter my car. I prefer to control that access a little more finely - which I assume is why Ford requires a certain set of events and active intervention by the driver.

Lest you read any of the above as snark... it's page 73.

Well the 'similar threads' for me, and anything I could find in search, are mostly all about some issue with the truck auto-locking after you leave the vehicle.. not what I'm asking about here.

And several other righteous manual-quoters like the guy above talking about disabling auto-unlock that are also missing the question.

Appreciate the attempts, hopefully one of the FORscan experts or someone will notice.

I also read some generic Ford instructions talking about going into a 'config mode' with a sequence of triple presses of the unlock button with the car on and off... and being able to disable auto-lock there.. but that sequence didn't seem to work on my Maverick.
