Thinking I'd do some preventative maintenance I went down to my local Ford dealership (I live in Canada) to pick up some front and rear drive unit fluid (SAE 75W and SAE 75W-85).
When the parts guy told me the price I thought he was kidding me-$50 for a single Quart/litre bottle for one and $100 for the other! WTF.
That's $150 (Canadian) for two quarts/litres of diff fluid. :mad:
I'm curious as to what you guys in the US are paying for the same fluid.

Try rockauto.com. Not sure about shipping to Canada though. (25-35ish)

I get good deals on RockAuto on Motorcraft fluids. Might check there.

I did go online and check out RockAuto but couldn't find any Motorcraft diff fluid.
They did have diff fluid for the Maverick, but it wasn't Motorcraft,

No need to use Motorcraft...Ford doesn't make lubricants.

@lavaspill, thanks for the link.

I did wonder if another brand, like Amsoil, would work just as well as the Motorcraft product.
As mentioned above (Todd92) I doubt there's any special products in the Motorcraft fluid that would make it superior to other quality diff oil products.

Careful, AmsOil does not have an equivalent to the Mototcraft RDU lube. You need to use the Motorcraft fluid.

Agreed. I used Amsoil for the PTU, but Motorcraft for the RDU - only ones I'm aware of that make it currently. Big fan of Amsoil products, especially for the fluids that don't get changed often.
