Did Ford lose my truck?

I searched the threads, but couldn’t find something quite similar to this. My truck went into production on 11/17. I was given an ETA range of 12/16-12/22. On 12/26, I was told (and shown) that it had arrived in East St Louis on 12/23. Since then, I’ve been told by Ford Chat that it was in Centreville, Il.

Now, my dealer is telling me that they tracked it via GPS, and it is still in Mexico! It looks to me (by the blue dots on the tracking screen) that it left, but is back in Mexico. The dealer insists that the dots represent the planned route, not where it’s been. Oh, and as a kicker, the online tracker reverted to “Order Confirmed” status back in November.

Has anyone experienced anything similar, or had any luck escalating something like this to anyone in corporate?

The blue dots are literally points in time showing where it has been. Think of it like a "bread crumb" trail. Your dealer does not know what they are talking about.

Now is it back in Mexico......that is an interesting question. I would talk to Ford Support (not your dealer) to see if they can look into it.

Thank you. I was pretty sure that the blue dots were pings from where it has been, but I appreciate the confirmation. The last update I got from Ford Support last Wednesday said that it was still in Centreville, IL (I forgot to include that screenshot). It still seems odd to me that it would be in the E St Louis/Centreville, IL area since 12/23, but I guess that’s better than Mexico. It would just be nice to know exactly where it is, because, right now, everyone seems to be guessing, so feels like it’s lost or has somehow slipped through the cracks.

It looks like the rail car number is being tracked back to Mexico. I followed mine to Virginia, then noticed it was on it's way back back. Ford chat confirmed it has been dropped off and was waiting for car carrier for the final leg to the dealer.

That makes more sense than any other explanation I’ve been able to come up with. Thank you! I still find it odd that it’s been in E St Louis/Centreville for a month, but I suppose that’s a better scenario than it still being in Mexico.

My Maverick shipped on 11/17/22. Tracker initially had delivery date week of December 10-15. Shortly before that week delivery was pushed back a week. Then was moved to middle of January and then again to early February. Yesterday tracker said it had been delivered to my dealer 1/22. No call from dealer so not sure what is really going on. I do not believe will know for sure what is going on until dealer calls to make appointment to pick it up.

The car carrier may be waiting full load to your dealer. I think mine sat for a couple weeks.

Oh wow, sounds like we’re in pretty similar boats then. Happy for you that it finally made it to the dealer! I’d be calling them ASAP.

My truck was built on 8/22/23 and shipped on 8/23/23. It wasn't available for pickup at the dealer until 10/2/23.

During that time, I got varying answers as to where it was. Once, the dealer said it was in a Memphis rail yard, while Ford Cust. Svc. said it was somewhere in IL. It was likely sitting in the rail yard at KC at that point.

As REMUB40 said, it's probably sitting in a rail yard, and the trucking company is waiting to pick it up when there's a full load of vehicles to pick up and take to your local area. That's what the delay was in my case, anyway.

My sales guy was right when he said to expect the truck to be delivered between 1 and 6 weeks after it ships.

As someone who had two cars destroyed in transit...I feel for you.

MY24 Mav was shipped on 11/16. Est Delivery has changed from 11/26-12/08 to 1/5-1/18 to now 2/07-2/20. Dealers "vinview" shows it was on rail, moving around the country until 1/05/'24. Now in a transport yard in Chicago waiting for a full truck to get trucked to SE Wisconsin. Ford and dealerships have no control over rail and transport shippers.

If it were me (and it was once upon a time) I would be on the phone and or visiting the dealer checking on it. All it takes for them to sell it out from under you is ‘ we hadn’t heard from you and thought you weren’t interested anymore’.
