I wish I could reach the damn foot rest so I could rest my foot on it.
But since I can't, I rest my foot on the door sill. I drive with my shoes off so no scuff marks on the sill. Yeah, I'm vertically challenged.

What's a dead foot? For all of my 50+ years of driving, I've been a left foot braker,,,,,

HRG
My dad did that, there was no reasoning with him. He had
nothing but great attributes as a man - but looked like a freaking moron going down the street with his brake lights ALWAYS ON - or flashing. You may not think you are pressing on the brake enough with your left foot to make the brake lights go on - but for a lot of the time - YOU ARE.
Let me ask you this, do you have to replace your brake bulbs a lot? Or ever? Most of us never have to. Does your CHMSL even work anymore?

The only time I might left foot break is if I am on a long drive in traffic and my right leg or foot starts to cramp up. It feels so strange to do it and I am not a smooth in my delivery of pressure as I am using my left foot. One of the main reasons I got the Adaptive Cruse Control was for stop and go traffic...

45+ years of driving (started in my early teens) and I had no idea the pad for your left foot to rest on had a name!
Dead pedal not foot rest, it started as a performance car thing, a place to brace your left while cornering. Morphed into a pretender accessory for the most part.

Me too!!! I don't think I have ever been able to reach it in any vehicle!
I always say I am vertically challenged & horizontally enhanced. 😜

I am only 6ft and I hate that thing. With the seat all the way back if I put my foot on it, my knee is in the air and my leg is off the seat. I have to put my left foot under the brake pedal. I'm hoping I can remove it.

Silliness will be the damnation of this world.
I'm being drop dead serious now.
I use the dead pedal all the time.
I'm 6 foot and I wear a size 14 shoe if these are qualifications, I find it perfectly comfortable.

I heard it was cheaper for Ford to make it more upright so since the Maverick is a POS tin can they chose the most cost effective angle for the dead pedal.
Not sure how angling a dead pedal affects the cost of production. Sounds like you're unhappy with your Maverick. Sorry to hear that.
