Went out to get into my truck and it wouldn't unlock. I was unable to lock it with the key and got in, the key turns, but the truck will not start, instrument panel/screen is black and the light next to park on the gear knob flashes yellow.
Went back in the house for a little bit, came out it unlocked the lights turned on real quick on the instrument panel and then turned off right away.
Waiting for AAA (Auto Club) to jump battery.
Any suggestions of what to do before that time? The hood will not pop open either.

Hood is a double pull. That’s all I got lol.

Take out your manual and make sure they know they are jumping a hybrid and not to jump the wrong point(s). There’s a black boot on a point with a no-jumper icon on it. Don’t use that lol. But it’s right next to the proper 12v point with a red boot on it (I think?). Anyway, just watch em and make sure.

Got it jump started. Thanks so much for your quick reply with the detailed pictures, it was good to know he was doing it right. He used a separate battery pack. He definitely knew it was a hybrid.
Can't really understand why the battery would be dead. I listen to Spotify a lot while I'm driving and my phone is connected via a USB cable, I don't turn the radio off and on, I just plug in and out all day long. Not sure if that has anything to do with it?
I will definitely get it checked out on Monday morning.

No you’re good there should be really nothing you can do during normal usage while it’s running to hurt the battery capacity, since your big HV battery is charging the 12v battery while its on. There have been other posts about wiring harness issues on a few peoples trucks, I’ll try to find links. Edit: I can’t find what I was thinking about.

Just an anecdote: I have a dashcam running on parking mode for 2 hours using the battery every time I turn off my truck, my battery is fine (so far). If I run parking mode for 4 hours at a time it did use too much battery and Fordpass app would notify me that the truck was going into a battery saving hibernation mode with no modem connectivity. It has no issues with consistent 2 hours of battery drain by the dashcam, so it seems like a pretty healthy system on my end for the size of the battery.

Anyway, what you’re doing is totally normal, so something may be amiss.

There have been a couple of reports of a bad solder joint on the cable running to the hybrid battery. If this happens again or you have your dealer check it out this time, it might be good for them to check that. Hopefully it's not a widespread issue but I have seen it mentioned on a couple of Facebook groups.
