Hello Maverick Truck Club,

This is my first post and I apologize if I am in the wrong category.

When I first ordered my Maverick I really thought that the parking/blinker lights would serve as DRL on XL and XLT. I was disappointed to find out it is actually the headlights. I was wondering If anyone was messing around with Forscan to make the parking lights DRL and turn off the headlights during the day. I know I can always turn the dial to parking lights, but that makes my tail lights come on as well. My goal would be to put the Switchback LED bulbs and look a little more fancy in my XLT. I also wanted to run a DRL strip outside of the housing. Found an aftermarket company that would turn my XLT headlights into Lariat style, but they are way out of my budget, so I am trying to do something myself. Any advice would help. Thanks!

Looking for the same info. I want to see if there is a way to get my XLT headlights to work like Lariats

I thought the XL & XLT used the turn signals for DRL while the Lariat uses an LED trim around the upper headlight casing. I don't know of any Maverick that uses the headlights as DRL.

That's the look I want on the XLT. Trying to figure out if there is anyway to make it happen.

There is no lighting on the top of those XL/XLT headlights like there is with the Lariats.
So it's an empty housing?

I see.
From what I know there isn't any lighting element across the top of the XL/XLT headlights. I would imagine you could replace the entire headlight assembly with the Lariat version, but that would be expensive.

Yes, just plastic with a cheesy chrome look.
It would be nice if our XLT LUX packages had the upgraded headlights instead of that cheesy looking plastic or at least some better audio.

So there's a dozen threads on this and I can't find the "original" but
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/led-light-strip-on-xlt-headlights.14796/
and
https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/a-little-grill-facelift-w-lighting.13425/post-267080
Should get you going.

As is, XL/XLT (Lux or no) do not get LED DRLs. Lasfit (or other) Switchbacks DO function as DRLs for the XL/T trims HOWEVER they do so by emitting a dim white light when in parking light or automatic, only flashing amber and BRIGHT when introduced to an activated turn signal's higher output.

LED strips have been added (as the above threads show) to tap the switchback and headlight harness wiring to enable "Lariat style" DRLs.

If you want Lariat headlights at this stage it's either the led strip and wire tapping or buying the overpriced headlamp units and the Lariat wiring harness, the the XL/Ts' are missing wire(s). I don't consider the Mr. Boom products to be worth the cost but others believe otherwise, but options are options.

I agree they look cool, but I can't bite the bullet for the cost. He was nice enough to tell me that companies like Diode dynamics or Morimoto make non-sequential DRL strips. Im just trying to figure some things out before I commit to buying all the hardware.
