Why am I running LED Daytime Running Lights?

These are the same people that don’t bother to turn on their lights when they’re driving in the rain because “I can see fine”.

I was thinking that after I posted. Last week we were driving in the rain, sun was almost all the way down, and it was amazing how many cars didn't have their lights on. Including two cop cars. If I'm not mistaken, Florida law requires headlights on when it's raining period. Yes, there are major idiots out there.

And then there are the idiots that don't turn on their lights until well after sunset. Around dusk, lights don't help you see, but they sure do make you visible. I think some people are of the opinion that until they need them to see, there's no reason to turn on their lights.

If I think I might see something in road and I want to determine if it's a cow or a crate that has fallen off a semi or whatever it is I may turn on my high beams to see it better.

Just out of curiosity, How many people have had their LEDs go out in their Maverick? we may just need some data.

Many quality lights are made in Taiwan, and other countries. China is bottom of the barrel for lights. That said, even lights Ford Specs from China are made to a better standard than cheap replacement bulbs.

And I think they will last longer than incandescent in most cases.

However, 2x to 3x longer life at 50x cost.

If the LEDs last long enough, by that time there may be an after-market source for replacement LED arrays that does not involve replacing the complete assembly.
Or perhaps a complete assembly not made by Ford that retails for significantly less.
Ford sold extended bulb care for $70 at time of purchase, but you cannot add it on later. ( I asked)

I love the automatic high beams on my Maverick. It automatically detects oncoming traffic then turn them off, then on after we pass. Way better than the lane assist on my Honda that would shake and have brake light angrily flashing on my dash when vehicle is coming around a bend not even in my lane. It was so annoying.
