Last month I had my '22 Hybrid in to have all the recall work, software updates, and the cable overlay done. I'm VERY satisfied with everything about it, from the time it took, to the quality of the work. BUT, (Of course there's a "but"...) I have noticed that the little car icon on the dash that I assume indicates you're going downhill (and charging, presumably) has gone away completely, and I wonder if anybody else has noticed this....and is it intentional, or a glitch?

Don't get me wrong, I don't really care about the indicator itself. If it's absence is by design, then I say good riddance. It never made any sense to me in the first place why I needed to be told I was going downhill anyway. I just wonder if it's a feature, or a bug that might indicate something else I haven't noticed might be amiss? 🤔

Since it was all pretty minor stuff, I intentionally waited to have as much as possible done in one visit. Everything went smoothly and I'm happy with the job the dealer did. They did it all from one day to the next, (including an oil change!) and all seems fine. I know the airbag recall in particular required a great deal of interior disruption, and I was worried my completely squeak, creak, buzz, and rattle-free experience might be ruined in the process....but thankfully, it's just as quiet as ever. The electric/ice transitions which were quite smooth before, are even smoother now, and the grabby brake thing has been completely resolved. It was never a major problem, and I had learned to mostly avoid it, but heck, I can't even MAKE it happen now. The truck is performing better than ever, and I'm quite the happy camper. 😁

Just that ONE nagging question....😉

I have a hybrid 2023. Had the cluster F#$&*! done and the tailight thingee. What I have noticed is my welcome "chime" doesn't chime every time anymore. I can live with it. But our trucks definitely are tempermental.

I saw over on the subreddit someone in Canada reported the same absence of the grade assist icon(/functionality?) after recall updates.
Ahh....grade assist. I hadn't bothered to look it up, but that sounds like it really should be there.
It's not though. I noticed it gone right off the bat, and I haven't seen it in a month and a half.

It indicates your high voltage battery is being recharged by regen. I'd be concerned if this function was no longer being shown as being active/enabled.

See this Reddit post.

See this Reddit post:

This would seem to indicate that the grade assist icon should only be shown when the vehicle is going downhill AND engine braking is active due to a fully charged battery. I wonder if it's possible I was getting it before when I shouldn't have. I used to see the icon almost any time the truck was going downhill. I'd like to know if it still shows up during actual engine braking....but that almost never happens for me. The last time it happened was last fall on a trip to the mountains. I guess may have to wait until my next road trip to find out for sure. 😉

My order arrived at dealership 3 weeks ago and I have since picked it up. Right away i saw indicators were set to metric. I went into both the steering wheel menu settings and the Sync display setting to change everything over to SAE. Unfortunately, the cruise control indicators remain in kilometers rather than miles. Everything else is correct accept for that. Know it all Sales Reps could not figure it out as well so it is going into the shop on Monday for the electrical techs to figure out. I am hoping that it is just a simple firmware update.
More to follow.

Where are you getting the bolded part from? Mine is always on going downhill. The only time it doesn't is when in N.

"Engine Motoring" is the operative phrase. It relies solely on regen for braking until the battery is fully charged and can't take any more. The only time I've ever experienced engine braking is on a couple of trips to the mountains. And when it kicks in brother, you know it. The engine practically screams. The first time it happened, I thought something was broken...until I remembered some other people discussing the feature here. I didn't truly understand it until I felt it for myself.
Plus, my "little truck" icon wasn't always on while going downhill before. A good bit of the time, but definitely not always. It might come on when going down a grade that was almost imperceptible....and other times, it wouldn't show up at all on a pretty steep grade. Never seemed to be much rhyme or reason to it.
And for the record, there hasn't been any perceptible change in how the vehicle actually behaves during hill decent. So I think it's strictly an icon issue. Everything sounds and feels exactly the same.

If you select the EV Coach screen, the green charging bar will increase in fullness to indicate more charging when going downhill (or braking).

If the charging bar turns white, I think that means the battery has charged to the maximum allowed and the engine engaged (but not running), to assist in braking. This occurs on my truck, when regen braking on a long downhill grade.

I've never seen the grade assist icon at all. Maybe either a difference in the Lariat IPC or just driving conditions. Nor have I observed the charge bar change color when it engine brakes which it sometimes does on these cold mornings when the engine is still running to generate heat but obviously has topped up the HVB.
