While researching Toyota hybrid problems I found a couple that matches issues on our forum. Damper-- It appears the springs & rivets are the problem. They get loose & the damper rattles until a load is applied. Rattle on morning start ups. It appears that the head gasket fails allowing coolant into a cylinder. The piston hydraulics & if the gasket isn't changed will push the connecting rod out the side of the block. My first thought of why the recall was for crank not polished to spec, but I think this head gasket problem is the culprit. If you get the Rattle. I suggest having yours towed to dealer for a gasket inspection. If I get it I will pull the spark plugs & look in each cylinder with a bore scope. If any coolant is seen to the dealer it will be towed with a video of results. BTW these are issues Toyota hybrid have too.
