My wife's friend drove her car into a rented bungalow at the Jersey shore. Put a hole in the home. A few years later she was at a no tell motel with her bf. A car drove into their room the bf had to climb over the car to get out. The motel manager asked if they wanted another room. Kind of ruined the moment.
Good grief! Now that's a story you probably don't want to tell any grandchildren. I have so many questions, but that's for another forum, right?

Wife backed our Flex into the light pole next to our driveway. Couldn't get too mad as she was looking and waving goodbye at me at the time.

Mine managed to hit a gigantic yellow School Bus - in the school parking lot, no less. "But Dad, it just appeared out of nowhere!" Fortunately, it was a very low-speed impact, and she only hit the bus' tire – but it was the rear tire. (o_O ) Her mom put a pair of BandAids on the bumper to cover the scratch, and made her keep them for about a year...
Well, at least I can say the car she did this with was a 2002 Honda Civic with its fair share of war wounds. Before the deck incident, my daughter and I were driving somewhere in upstate NY (I was driving - she hadn't hit that magic driving age yet) and I saw a deer on the opposite side of the road, running at top speed, before it decided to bolt across the road. I had no time to make a decision - the deer plowed into the side of the car, busting the side mirror, and came across my windshield (thankful it didn't break!) before rolling off the other side. Pulled over immediately and some other guy stopped to help. We looked for five minutes before finding the HUGE buck in the woods taking his last breaths of life before giving up the ghost. Dragged the thing out of the woods and decided to split the meat. We both headed back to our little burg to the local processer. He paid for the processing and I had a freezer full of meat that lasted all season. The Civic was dented from the a-pillar forward. Car was already paid for so I didn't file an insurance claim, knowing full well my daughter would be driving within the year.

I gave her the car with 120K miles on it. It saw a few more dings and dents before we bought our daughter another used car, and I got the car back with 175K miles. Where the hell she drove 50K miles is anyones guess. Finally traded the car in with 350K miles.

Kinda miss that ugly thing. You could leave $20 on the seat and no one would steal it because no one would go near the car. LOL!

Your deer story reminded me of a friend who picked up his brand new F-250 before coming to work in the hill country (near Fredericksburg). About a mile from work, a large buck ran out of the brush next to the road, and impaled its rack into his left rear door - literally punched through the metal. He wasn't going very fast, but the impact and forward motion of the truck snapped the deer's neck, and the poor fella was dragged along until my friend stopped the truck.

He brought it the rest of the way to work to show all of us, then went straight back to the dealership to have it repaired. Ironically, they gave him his old trade-in truck as the "loaner" while they fixed the new truck.

Fast forward four days... He picked up the newly repaired F-250, and headed to work - now extra gun-shy about those deer that are all over the hill country. About a mile from work, he saw a herd of deer beside the road, so he slowed and stopped before getting to them so they could clear the road. While he was sitting - stationary, mind you - a large doe came barreling out of the woods and ran into the exact same door, caving it in, and breaking its neck in the process... The "new" damage looked almost identical to the previous damage...

When he pulled up at work, one of the local smart-alecks asked "Do ALL F-250s come with that deer-shaped dent in the door?"

That's unfortunate, but we gotta admire your optimistic spin on the situation, "bring on the rock chips" is an iconic reaction.

Let me guess, her husband was driving.

Nah we were young adults still living at home. This was pretty common at the time. Did not have the college experience. I went their with my future wife and the next day her 69 Cutlass did not start. Was embarrassing calling for a ride. I took me son home when he was born in that car. Easter Sunday 1986.

With my Maverick almost a week old and the day before the clear bra was to be installed a pickup just nicked the front bumper leaving a 3/4" long gouge in the bumper. $1200 to remove and repaint. I had the center grille bar painted body color at the same time

What a good Dad to just shake it off and know that Daughter got a valuable lesson.
That's definitely worth a few dings!!
Plus, she will always warmly remember that you love her more than a new truck.
Chalk it up as a WIN.
Dad, I now live in Alaska. And, btw, I hit your Maverick.

Last week I backed my husband’s charger into our trash can. Mind you it has a backup camera. Not sure how I missed the big red trash can. So glad the damage to your maverick wasn’t bad!
My wife backed her Tiguan into the garage door...on the inside...with a backup camera. 🤦‍♂️ Almost zero damage to the vehicle but minor damage to the door, which is bowed a little bit now. If it weren't a really nice insulated door, I'd have replaced it by now, so I'm continually reminded of that day whenever I see the door...daily.
