I'm no mechanic, but that is not normal. I would be soooo pi$$ed off.
Why ?
It’s a boot failure, Ford will fix it no charge,
Unless he hit something and ripped it open.
Then it’s on the owner.
That would suck donkey di,,s.
Shit happens.

But it's a 25 Maverick. The boot (or retaining ring) should not have failed so early. Poor QC at Ford methinks.
