The mating surface where the strut mounts you want it to be machined roughly so that it grips and cuts into the metal of the strut assembly so it does not slip as this is an alignment surface. From an engineering perspective you don't want two metal mating surfaces who need to be high interference to be painted anyway, as the paint layers could act as a lubricant to allow slippage at some point.
My thoughts 'zactly.

Heres mine. If you zoom way in you can see the middle part of the plastic lifting up and showing a gap. Not a big deal.

I have the same gap. I checked the part online, it’s not designed well. It’s bunch of clips, no adhesives.

I have a rattle on the front passenger side, not sure if the door or the dash. It’s getting worse by the day, with bass i hear the door rattles. I got the truck last month, have roughly 800 miles on it and now the rattle can be heard on the freeway.
Anyone got luck with dealers fixing rattle ?

I'm just a casual dummy, but it looks like the area where the top nut is was a "trim to fit" scenario, the area where the bottom nut is looks to be spec. Perhaps the layer of paint in the area of the top nut was too thick? Or perhaps had some surface rust on it that had to be ground off first before assembly. I do agree with the big brains that you'd want uncoated metal to metal contact on parts that shouldn't move when joined together...

Since no one else has ever posted anything about it - and we have plenty of members who have changed wheels - it's probably an isolated incident. See if you can get Ford to take care of it.
Take care of what? It looks to be a cast iron part. A little rust won't hurt the part for probably another fifty years. If they had spray painted it someone would have complained it had runs in it. If it were stainless steel and had rust on it I would worry.

Hit it with some rust reformer and stop worrying.
I usely rub canola oil on my cast iron and then heat to 350 for an hour to put a non stick coating on it. I prefer Lodge Cast Iron. It will last over a hundred years if cared for.

I'm sorry for having higher expectations after 10 months of waiting. Maybe my concerns are unwarranted. Maybe after 30 years of driving I shouldn't have expected anything less from Ford. It's my first one and I'm feeling like it may be the last. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Should they have coated your disc brakes to prevent rust? On this piece you will not have a problem with it rusting through.

Grapeseed oil has a higher smoke point but it took me a loooong time to re season my iron after I stripped it with an electric sander to get it smoother.

There is a post about door rattle from the speakers and where he upgrade the B&O speakers. This may not be your problem, just an FYI.

Ive seen 90k dollar trucks with plenty of fit and finish problems. The are all made cheap now. Profit is all the manufacturers care about. Build the vehicles just good enough to make it thru the warranty period.

Hi there, I'd be happy to look into your Maverick concerns on my end. Will you send us a message with your VIN and dealership info? I can look into things on my end.

They do have coated rotors on the truck. Most vehicles do.

So after almost 10 months I figured I'd have a truck that was 100%. I had to imagine that Ford did whatever it takes to get trucks out for 2022 and by "whatever it takes" I was hoping it wasn't literally. I wanted to change my wheels out. And low and behold, corners were cut, well not corners but my spindles. Tops trimmed to mount the shocks and as you can see the really hacked the area to mount the tie-rod. Not real happy with my first ever Ford. Has anyone else had this issue? XL Hybrid 230 miles. Who can I contact at Ford? Dealer is aware of my issue.

Unless I'm mistaken, it appears those areas of the suspension might require a 'flat' that a casting just can't provide and machining was necessary. I don't think a guy at the factory with an angle grinder was grinding on the part to make it fit, if that is what you are wondering about.
