I received a call from the dealership to schedule this fix for tomorrow in my driveway. Didn't even know about it until then. Weirdly, I found most of the below on a lot of sister sites to MTC.

Customer Satisfaction Program (CSP) 24B47 announced 7/22/2024 to update the APIM at no cost to the owner. Also known as SSM 52704.

This is NOT an Over The Air update.

The CSP lists all of the impacted vehicles including ALL Lariat Mavericks built before January 2024. The US population of all of the affected vehicles is 383,085.

Ford is aware of the issues owners are having with Sync:
Have you have experienced any issues with your center display? If so this CSP may solve the issues. Issues include:
1. Display intermittently blacks out.

Description: In all the affected vehicles, due to an error in the SYNC software, you may experience SYNC system instability concerns and/or a failure to preserve certain settings across ignition cycles. This may result in a black infotainment screen that does not affect rear view camera, incorrect language setting, erased or unsaved radio presets, and potential inability to perform software updates.

This update takes roughly 30 minutes, but expect a couple hours as this is a software update. I think it’s a configuration change to the APIM (software only update).

hopefully it includes just generally working better and not having to hard reset it twice a week when it freezes up

Dealer is working on it now. He said that is the general idea behind the fix.

Interesting. Have had zero issues with the infotainment on my October 2021 Lariat build, except for the settings not saving on an older Sync 3.4 build. Is this just an update to the latest software that can be done at home?

No, this appears to be an update to the entire module. More firmware than software.

I'm having the update done in my driveway next week too. I'm hoping this fixes some stability and connectivity issues I've been having lately, after having virtually none for a long time.

Hard to prove a negative, unfortunately. Seems to be working fine.

@commadorebob I received an email from Ford about this today.
Subject: Notification for Certain 2018-2024 Ford Vehicles With SYNC® 3
I knew what the body of the email likely would say because of your post.

I'm still waiting on the dealership to call me back to do the Explorer. Seems the update is vehicle specific and they don't have that one yet.

I had some SYNC “instability”, forgetting presets, settings and so on. They ended up updating some things, replacing the cars antenna, and then replacing some computer part. Finally it works again! But I received that email too, so will see if they can update the software too. The “instability” was having me regret my purchase, it was just enough to drive me mad.

I'm just finding out about this. If it affects so many vehicles, then why didn't we all get letters in the mail.

Anyone who has had this fix, does this fix the annoying problem of the radio coming on automatically when you start the vehicle even though it was off when you shut the truck off?

No. It doesn't fix that. I did get a letter yesterday from Ford but I had already had it fixed by then as my dealer reached out first.
