The maverick slams them down at startup whether you've manually pulled them up or "parked" them in the service position. So if there's something blocking their path or they are frozen to the windshield you may have damaged them.

Worse, if you've pulled them away from the window, at startup you chip the hood paint as the wiper arms smash into the hood.

Mind-bogglingly stupid design
My 2024 doesn't do that UNLESS I start the truck with the pushbutton (or key).
I tested starting the truck with the app and the fob. Both cases the wipers stay in the service position. I parked mine in the service position before this storm with them pulled away from the windshield. To test the remote start I had to completely clean the windshield including the cowl area of ICE since the arms were encased in it. Had they tried to return to the parked position with all of the ice in the cowl it most certainly would have damaged them. To clean that area well required opening the hood also. Based on this first major snow storm if I were not retired the Maverick would be traded off by weeks end. Worse design for wipers and cowl I have ever owned since the 70 Torino which had hide away wipers.

Another problem with the design is that if the truck is left out uncovered, the defrost does nothing to melt the ice that builds up in the well area.

We had a pretty good ice/snow/sleet storm weekend before last, that filled the wiper area into one big block of ice. Wasn’t able to drive the Mav because it stayed below freezing, and running the defrost while driving up and down our road did nothing.

I didn’t want to whack the ice too hard and damage the wipers, so I used a bunch of rock salt to at least break the wipers loose, but the vent area is still ice and I worry about what it might do to the paint down there.

I like both of the above ideas, but the garage/carport is not feasible for me, or moving to the southern U.S.
I've used a full windshield cover, but putting putting on/off was more of a pain than digging the snow out of the wiper well.
I LIKE the pool noodle suggestion. Just brush the snow off, pull out the noodle. Minimal, if any snow/ice on the wipers or in the well. It might require a little creative carving around the wiper blades, arms for a tighter fit. Now a problem, where to find. NOT a winter stock item in our stores.

Great idea for a cover. I didn't enjoy our last storm a week ago. see photo.
