My question is this . They have told you everything is fine now but just after your warranty ends you find out you have a fuel dilution issue., will they then charge you a diagnostic fee and for the fuel pump replacement?
No doubt - yes they would charge you plenty. You grasp the situation correctly. Tears would not help in your situation:)

True, but if my oil sample was bad - I would have been one of those rare instances. If my oil sample was poo pooed, I would have resorted to backup plan “start to cry”.

Maybe they wouldn’t have replaced my fuel pump - but I can assure you they’d have waived the TSB fee,

And when I returned 6 months later with another bad oil sample report - they’d say “fine, don’t cry, we’ll replace your pump under warranty”.

I like to consider myself an effective negotiator:)
Yeah, I tend to underestimate the power of crying and a good conniption fit. ;)

Having a Jeep Gladiator with a Pentastar 3.6L that are known to eat cams and lifters, bringing in third party oil analysis for many showing elevated iron wear did nothing for most and they were basically told until it throws codes and/or catastrophic failure, they (FCA) would not act upon them.

That is my understanding too. However, if you have Ford perform a TSB, even under warranty - if the TSB shows no issues you will pay for the expense of that TSB.

My VIN has a TSB for a high pressure fuel pump defect that will cause oil dilution. The TSB calls for a high pressure test that will not be free if it turns out my high pressure fuel pump is fine.

I sent an oil sample to Blackstone to check ($50) to see if I had any oil dilution. One, to have data to present to Ford if they claimed the pump was fine. Two, to avoid bringing my truck in for the TSB if the sample came back ok.

My sample was fine and I avoided the $200+ charge for an unnecessary TSB analysis.

Although I will send in future samples to Blackstone to monitor before my warranty expires:)
I have the same TSB for my Maverick based on VIN also. Never thought to highly of oil analysis but believe I will have it checked on next oil change. Thanks for the idea!!

I have not had any issues with my truck, I’ve had no recalls, tsb, or computer updates. It starts every time and always gets me where I’m going and back.

The "automotive software revolution" is a big cash generator due to the uptick in extended warranties and excessive parts required to keep them running. Rhetorical question: Did the automakers stumble on this conundrum or did they plan it?

Ask the dealership if diagnostic fees are waived before they work on your vehicle. I never charged for diags if a customer paid to get their car fixed and I've never paid diags when I took a vehicle in for service.

Coming up on the end of the 3 year factory warranty, I have tried desperately to get Ford to fix my deep sleep issues.. To no avail. My wife and I have made the hard decision to sell and move on with another vehicle as this issue has become a pain to deal with and one that Ford doesn't seem to want or know how to fix.
What surprised me most was when I asked if/when Ford has a true fix for the issues, who will pay for the software update? To my surprise (verified by 3 different service managers and Ford customer care)........ We the customer will bear the cost. Just seems odd to me the consumer pays to fix a KNOWN issue and one that was reported and documented prior to end of warranty. So Ford screws up, comes out with a fix well past end of warranty and has the consumer pay... Just seems wrong but not surprising for many big businesses today

I guess I just wanted to inform members who are on the fence about selling or keeping due to this constant issue... SSMs and TSBs for known issues are not covered past end of warranty.
What has Ford done to fix your deep sleep? I have a 23 XL and on my 3rd battery. This one is an AGM and I haven't had any DS alerts since it was installed in 3/26, just before the warranty expired. They also did the ACCM update and so far so good. I understand there is another update pertaining to the ABS that is perhaps draining the battery. If mine goes into DS again, before I pay Ford for a software update, I'll be contacting Ford customer care.

People must be misunderstanding TSB’s. They are extremely common for all vehicles/motorcycles and so on.

I’m getting the feeling that some of you want the dealership to replace a part before it fails because there is a TSB on it. That sounds pretty crazy, right? It does not mean the part will fail. But it does tell the mechanics of a known issue with the part, symptoms and remedies.

I’ve had plenty of TSB’s on my vehicles and most of them never come to fruition. There is a TSB on the pre-25 Maverick front axles and as we know, Ford will not replace them. Preemptively, nor should they.

I’ve got a TSB on my 2014 Harley that the coolant pump fails prematurely. After all these years, it still has not failed.

My 2024 Eco is like the majority of the Mavericks,
Completely trouble free.
I still got the extended warranty out to 100,000 miles.
I really really like this mini truck. It fits in my life seamlessly.
BUT !
I will trade up before that warranty expires.
I bet the 2028’s and 9’s are going to be way cool.
