Can anecdotally confirm that using remote start does not factor in the estimated mpg, so you will notice a significant discrepancy when calculating mpg by hand if you're warming the truck up.

Don't know about a hybrid, but my Eco figures in idle time in fuel economy.
Same for my hybrid. I can’t remote start because it is an XL. But I don’t want to drive mine on salty roads, and my area had a worse than average winter. So it was garaged for 3.5 months. Every week to 10 days I’d start the engine and let it idle for a cycle (until the high voltage battery was charged and the motor stopped).

Pulling out of my driveway on the first drive, the computer was showing mileage in the 30’s, well below my average in the upper 40’s. Not too bad, I was thinking, considering all that idle time.

About 1 mile down the road, it must have recalculated because dropped to 2 MPG! From there it rebounded quickly and 200 miles later it is in the low 40’s and rising.

Similar here.

When pulling a big trailer, the miles to empty and tank average took about 150-200 miles to fully adjust.

The "instant" MPG was of course right from the first moment of towing. Which was cut in half. But it took 150-200 miles to cut the miles to empty in half.

Not out of the break-in period yet, but I was surprised to find that the MPG estimates of the vehicle actually matched reality, at least for
my first fill up.

Every other car I've driven, the MPG estimates the care gave were always a 10% overestimate. If it said 20MPG, it was actually 18. The interesting part of that is that the range estimates were generally much more accurate, and that's the same information, so I take this as what I expect from any car - a bit of marketing. But this one was 39.6 and my calculation was 39.4, so really close to reality.

I don't idle the engine, and I filled it up once I drove it home from the dealership. I've also had a total of one fill up, so not a big sample. However, with my F-150, it was always 10% over reality.

Last bit, these are really efficient vehicles, so a small amount of gas use (like remote start idling of the gas engine) will have a much higher effect on the actual MPG. But I'd expect that it should show that lower mileage in the estimate. My F-150, you could watch the MPG go down if you were idling with the engine running for extended periods of time...
