I purchased after reviewing vehicles on Ford.com website for a couple of months. I had a one mandatory requirement: It had to be towable behind my motorhome. I choose Maverick Hybrid because of Price & Fuel Efficiency. I sent a email Quote Request to a local dealer on a Hybrid Maverick. I got a Text reply from the salesman that I later purchased my Maverick from. I did a test drive in a gray 2025 Maverick XLT Hybrid AWD. I liked the Maverick Hybrid but I did not like the gray color.

I went back to Ford.com web site & reviewed the local Dealer Inventory. I found a Blue 2025 Maverick Lariat Hybrid AWD w/4K Towing & Black Appearance. Website said it would be available in 3–4 Weeks. I when back to the Dealership & placed a deposit on it. Two weeks later, I got a text to come in to test drive it.

May 1, 2025 I drove it home. Today, It has 301 miles on it & 150 miles to Empty. Not bad for a 13.8 Gal. Fuel Tank.

I have a Blue OX towing package & a BAKFlip MX4 TS Hard Folding Tonneau Cover w/ T-Slot Rails on order. I am ordering Nerf Bars for it today.

Dealer just called to come pick up the Title & Plates. Got to go.........

Ordered mine as no one had Azure Grey Maverick with the Tremor package. Also went out of state as the dealers in my area were charging premiums with no negotiation.

I wasn't waiting in line. I bought and enjoyed a Tacoma off a local lot. I enjoyed reading about would-be owners fretting about their self-imposed issues while I tricked out the Tacoma and waited for an opportunity to buy a Maverick. One of the reasons I bought one is positive feedback from owners I talked to in the local Walmart parking lot. Ford's inept handling of the marketing of the truck was interesting reading but was something I would never sign up for.

I decided I wanted a Maverick in April 2023 I was told it would be at least a year. The only one they had on the lot was a white plain jane XL with a Trifold that someone passed on. I hesitated and someone bought it. I was glad they did as I wanted more options. I ordered a Lariat and waited. I had to roll over into MY24 and in March of 24 my truck arrived. Like most who bought back in the first 3 years there was no test drives. During the wait I logged in to the Ford site to check for dealer stock and never found any that came close to what I ordered. I am very glad I waited!

I decided at the end of March on a Maverick versus competition. Went to the 2 closest dealers, 1 I wouldn't buy from no matter the price, to see one and drive one. The second nearby dealer had both 2024s and 25s on the lot. I was able to compare, test drive each around the property, they have a nice route for a quick drive without dealing with traffic, around their Ford and the DJR dealership next to them. But they didn't have exactly what I thought I wanted and the salesperson offered to bring one from another dealer if I found one I liked online. I found one in red, xlt that I thought I wanted at a dealer 30 miles away. Went to look at it but before I got inside to ask I saw my 2024 Lariat in atlas blue. The first dealer could not do a dealer buy or swap for it so I bought it there. Never again would I order a vehicle. Bad experience 47 years ago and not willing to wait to see if it shows up correct.
I did a dealer transfer and would recommend it if you have a dealership that you have a relationship with or would prefer to work with. In my case, the sales team took the options (XLT hybrid, lux package, Co-Pilot) I wanted and emailed other dealers throughout the state until we found one (and they were willing to transfer it). Only took an extra two days and they picked it up at no added expense. I've never done a transfer like that before, so mileage may vary, but my experience was unexpectedly positive.

Here is my ordering saga. XLT hybrid.

Ordered 10/13/21, VIN and multiple build dates 9/22 to 12/22 then cancelled. 11/14/22 roll over. In production 1/18/23, built 2/4/23, shipped 2/6/23. Arrived at dealer 3/3/23. Picked up 3/6/23.

While I was waiting back in 2022 Tim Bartz recommended removing hard trifold and spray in bed liner as they were constraints then. When sales manager did the roll over he added them back on the order. Glad he did.
I am very happy with the Mav. Drives great, excellent fuel economy.

I ordered mine from AutoNation in November 2024. It is only being shipped now in May. I initially wanted Space White but my wife wanted a different color based on the computer renders. We ended up changing the color 2 times from Desert Sand to Azure Gray to Carbonized Gray.

I continued to search dealer lots to try to see the colors in person and found a dealer nearby (Evergreen Ford) which had some in 2024 colors. Still no Space White. I also found through a search that Evergreen had a dealer order already in the state and just waiting to be delivered to their lot with the options I wanted but in Space White. On a trip to Oregon we happen stop by a different dealer (Hilllyer’s Ford) that had one in Space White. It was actually quite nice so we put a deposit down on the one Evergreen had being delivered.

A shoutout to both Evergreen and Hillyer’s who knew I had already ordered one elsewhere but were so helpful and accommodating in showing me the colors, interiors and even offered to let have a test drive on 2024s which they had on the lot! Long story short, we bought the Maverick essentially off the lot from Evergreen months ahead of the one I ordered and will pass on the one I ordered at AutoNation. Funny thing is that the one I bought from Evergreen was dealer ordered after the one I custom ordered from AutoNation and I ended up with the one I was going to order in the first place.

I've seen all the threads about regretting buying an XL or an XLT or a Lariat. I've seen the threads about problems with ordering (delays, bait & switch, etc.) But what I couldn't find was any posts about ordering your Maverick or just buying one off the lot. I can't get a sense of how many members special ordered their trucks vs. those that just went and picked one out. It seems a lot of people had to compromise on their orders to avoid delays. I just found the one I wanted with the options that I wanted and bought it straight out - no waiting, no dealers adding on stuff before I could bring it home. I'm very satisfied with how it worked out for me, but I would have probably ordered one if I was buying new ('25). I just got lucky that I found one exactly how I would have ordered it and managed to get a '24 right after the camera recall was settled. So if you bought one off the lot, do you wish you would have ordered one instead? Or if you ordered one, was it a good experience compared to the old "drive to the local dealer and buy one today"? I just wondered if it was about 50-50 ordering vs. buying off the lot, or if it was higher or lower in either direction?
It is now easy to pick one from a lot. 2-3 years ago, you ordered, or typically had to pay ADM to get one off the lot. Now the lots have plenty, and all are discounted. New orders will be more expensive vs. Off the lot because price increases that just were added to new builds. Get one off the lot before the prices rise is my current advise. I waited 11 months for my 23 to be built.

Alaska. It has 130,000 miles on it. It was purchased for $15,500 in Jan 1990 with the Gem top.

I was thinking the 25 Mavericks were getting a little pricy since my first one in Dec of 21 was a Lariat for 28 OTD and my 25 Lariat was 38 OTD but then my friend just bought a loaded hybrid Tacoma and its MSRP was 63k. Ouch
