Complete power loss on highway

Did you have any recalls done before this started? I'm going to guess you did and you are having the same issues as others that had the recall done..

Bad fuel? A slug of water in the injection system would cause exactly those symptoms.

Do a search. It's all software related and I think in all cases it happens after the last 1 or 2 recalls.

Some say Ford released an update but I don't believe it. There needs to be a recall for a recall to ensure a fix is on record.

Happened to me on Friday April 12 2024. I have 1200 miles on it. Rolling down I-79 in a rain storm . Trying to pass a tanker truck and lost all power in the gas pedal. Had a Kia Sportage on my ass had to pull off on the left hand side of I-79. I restarted it and it worked fine. I don't think the front panel lit up. I haven't had it in for a recall or updates yet since I just got it last month.

Any updates on this problem?

On your profile info I see you have a '23 XL, so I assume you got it used. Do you suppose it got the problematic recall before you bought it?

I've had my hybrid for 2 months and 750 miles. The bummer is every time I drive the truck, I think , will this be the time it craps out going up the 2 lane mountain road full of traffic? I feel like I'm driving an old Junker and I'm constantly looking for escape roots when something happens. Not good. From what I'm reading so far people have been very lucky no to have had an accident. Hey Ford, this is a law suit just waiting.

Possible. It Only had 120 miles on it when I bought it so it was basically new. The used dealer bought it to flip it from what they told me. They put different rims and a bed cover on it and Jacked the price up a few grand and a rube like me bought it.

Going to me local Ford dealer Monday to get the incident on the record.

This happened to me driving to Nashville for a hockey tournament. We were able to limp the car to a Ford dealer in KY. The dealer reprogramming in the PCM and now the car is fine. Then when I got home the following week a letter from Ford in the mail about this problem. Fix is still working right now.

Reprogramming the powertrain module (aka reprogramming in the PCM) appears to be the most talked about remedy for the power loss problem more and more Hybrid Mavericks are experiencing. I don’t know what plans Ford has for the recall expected in May, but I hope they would be considerate enough to share them so we can start getting our Mavericks properly fixed and get back to life without worrying if our trucks are going to shut down and leave us stranded again.

Happened to me while I was slowing down for a red light on the access road. The truck lurched (but still stopped), engine quit, all the dashboard lights lit up, and the display kept saying various systems like pre-collision assist, advance Trac, etc, were disabled. Had only hybrid power. Used the hybrid power to drive 20mph with hazards on til I found a quiet side street. Was about to call a tow truck when I turned the truck on (for about the 5th time) one last time and it worked as normal, but now the check engine light is on. Will take it in to dealer on Monday.
I wonder if the abnormal geomagnetic storm contributed to the problem, or perhaps just a coincidence. This my first real issue; have over 13,000 miles.

No recalls currently. Funny thing is that I drove it to the dealer on Saturday morning, but they said to bring it in on Monday when the technicians are there. On Monday when I started the car, the check engine light was no longer on. Nevertheless, the dealer worked on it all day today - supposedly ran over 9,000 updates - and think they have it solved, but want to test it/drive it tomorrow morning to be sure.
