For use in the cubby. I bought a Mabett storage insert with phone holder.
I keep a little money in it and it also holds the rear seat monitor so I can make sure that my dog doesn't get tangled in her safety harness.

I don’t get these phone holders in the cubby. I am seriously asking here, why? With CarPlay and Android Auto there are zero reasons to see your phones screen at any point while driving. I just use the factory “charge pad” space.

I don't use it for my phone.
I use it for the monitor or my Garmin. I don't have unlimited data on my phone or an SD card for map storage. If I'm going somewhere unfamiliar I use a GPS.
To hold my my phone. I use Mabett soft touch side saddle phone holder.

Are you sure you won't be committed to ordering a 4th Maverick?
People who know me aren't surprised. I have owned a lot of vehicles over the years. I tend to get bored, sell, and find something else to interest me for a while. SWMBO has forbidden me from selling this one. ;-)

And I said "purchased" and not "ordered..." The truck was on the lot, and the purchase agreement is done. The trick now is finding enough time to fly out and drive it back.

You sold your first Maverick because you didn’t like the eCVT. What/why the change?
I understand that your needs can change in four years regarding size.
We "borrowed" back the 2024 XL Hybrid we sold to my daughter to drive out to the Long McArthur Maverick Meetup this year. In essence, we put about 3,400 miles on it in a short time. It convinced me that the eCVT is okay for the kind of driving I will be doing with the new one.

We do have a 2022 Ford PHEV Escape SEL, which also acclimated me to the eCVT.

In summary, my needs changed, and I like driving the eCVT now.

This is my third vehicle with a cvt. They work fine for me.

Not to take from your new purchase but I'm noting something again. Either ordering or going a long ways to get a truck. I'm fully aware that ordering a vehicle is the way many did it in the past.

I once sold Honda/Mazda's and VW's. No one ordered one and this was 1987-1995. If we didn't have what a person wanted we went and got it from another dealer. Things were different then as people didn't just get on the internet and find a dealer like they do now.

When I retired I decided to drive for the dealership I used to work for. People still didn't order cars. I went and got it for them. I've delivered cars to people. I even did some driving for a Ford dealer for a bit. I live in WV and went to Wisconsin to pick up a truck someone wanted.

I bought my truck from a Ford dealer that is a part of the ownership group that owns the dealership I drive for. They didn't want to find and go get the truck I wanted...........I told them I would go get it. In the end my wife talked me out of black and I did buy the blue one they had just got in BUT there is a huge advantage to buying local. If my car is down they will let me have a loaner. If you buy your vehicle elsewhere you walk.

I believe I have been to 14 states picking up or delivering a vehicle. I do deliver cars to people who bypass their local dealer for whatever reason. I asked a lady about a Honda I delivered to her. She lived 5 minutes from a Honda dealer. She said the salesman didn't want to get her the vehicle she wanted. We did a dealer trade to get what she wanted and then took it her. Took 3-4 days total.

I'd tell the dealer to deliver it to me. (in general, maybe you have a reason to want to go to Kansas).
Interesting post.

A few things about flying there and driving home:
  • I like to drive, and this drive can be gorgeous whether you take the northern or southern route.
  • I have to go to a couple of places that happen to be near the route on the way back home.
You mention how few people ordered vehicles. My dad, however, traditionally ordered all of his new cars to ensure he purchased exactly what he wanted. So I knew the process existed before the initial Maverick fiasco educated the public.

This time around, I went in the opposite direction and chose from the Mavericks available on the lot. It came down to either the XLT Hybrid I bought or a 402A Lobo Standard. The Lobo was tempting, but the hybrid makes a lot more sense. Plus, I liked the color and the combination of features and packages.

I love the ECVT. Still wish they offered a 5 speed manual. Not fond of automatic's.
I’d love a 5 speed stick in my Tremor.
But over time when the new coolness wore off I’d want my seemingly flawless 8 speed auto back.

My dream Maverick :

A Tremor just like my 2026, body stickers and all,
With the 2.0 Turbo Ecoboost I have now and my Eight speed automatic,

WITH the Hybrid system and a battery two or three times the capacity of the current hybrid.

Pay attention to boys ::::::::

Enough battery capacity and enough electric motor power to hit and hold 45 mph even climbing hills like in a full on EV.

Plug in,
With manual control. I would want to be able to switch off the Ecoboost completely.
I’d want to be able to do a reasonable to me all electric drive up to 45 mph and 50 miles on level ground with something like a 25 mile range in my mountains.

No Ecvt I want my current eight speed WITH my paddle shifters.

Ok so I’m dreaming. It got the Wright Brothers in the air remember ?

That would be impossible since the Maverick Hybrid doesn't have a CVT, it has an e-CVT which is vastly different. The eCVT has planetary gears, they are not a belt & wheel system like a CVT. I hate that they're called e-CVT's, they should have been given a better name since they really have nothing in common with CVT's except the name.
I understand it's built different. All the same.........

After 3 years I still haven't found any good use for that cubby. I'm genuinely curious what you find it useful for.

Ice cube dispenser for me. It fits perfectly.

The benefit of all the CVT transmission types is that you can always be in the most efficient ratio. Either achieving the most MPGs while cruising or the most work when accelerating. It takes some getting used to hearing the ICE actually decreasing RPMs as you approach then end of the merge while the speedometer is still increasing.

Understanding how the CVT with a friction belt and adjustable pulleys changes ratios vs how the eCVT changes ratios using the ICE and 2 electric motors connected to a planetary gear set is completely different. The CVT is prone to slipping and wear. The eCVT is direct drive, except the torque damper between the ICE and the eCVT. That part is much like the clutch disc on a manual transmission, without the pedal and throw out bearing.

It's amazing (to me) how the little screen in the 2022-24 looked funny at first with the little odd cubby to the right (that I find very very useful actually).

Now, to me the BIG center screen looks funny (to me).

Like why is it not centered over the vents?
it would have to an inch shorter to be centered. The 13.2" size is used in other Ford applications

I would love to have the new Neptune Blue, but Oxford White makes more sense since I will be commuting weekly between Orange County, CA, and Phoenix, AZ.
