I know for a fact in a hybrid lariat loaded it dors apply the brakes. I am not positive but believe that you have to have the alert package AND the 360 option package for the brake application.Does it actually apply the brakes if you get too close?
In some circumstances the Maverick will brake automatically to attempt to avoid a collision. This is Standard Equipment and applies to all models and all trim levels. Obviously, this is not a self driving vehicle and you can not rely on Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB). It is not 100% effective and in many instances it only reduces the speed at the time of collision. In one pedestrian test (parallel adult at night), the collision speed was only reduced by 3 MPH from 37 to 34 MPH.I have had the red collision alert several times and didn’t think I was that close to another vehicle. Kind of scares me a little. Wondering if I did keep going and got closer, does it automatically slam on brakes? Not wanting to test this. My neighbor has a new Honda Accord and said his has slammed on brakes on him as he has judged someone turning off to the right and he got too close and he wasn’t prepared for it.

While I get why some folks are annoyed by the safety features, there doesn't seem to be any important downside to them that would cancel saving myself injury or death to me, my family, or my Maverick.Agree its speed sensitive, you may not feel your too close BUT you may be going too fast it will calculate speed and distance. mine goes off once in a while and am glad it does.
Yet, thankfully, here you are to post about it. One has to wonder what might have happened if the Maverick didn't lock up and you slammed into the car in front.I had this on my 2019 Forester that I sold to get my Maverick. I almost got hit from behind twice on the highway when a car quickly got in front of me to make an exit. It would literally lock up the brakes and make that nails on chalkboard brake grinding sound. Annoying as hell.
well, you have as much right to the sidewalk as the skateboarder.True story. mine went off when it saw a skateboarder on the sidewalk
