I'm changing my tune, I'm in agreement with you and after revisting the other post where they fish the wires down to the fuse panel and use the circuit fuse tap on the #3 fuse so power only goes to the mirror when the key is on

Full transparency, I’m very inexperienced with electrical modifications, so I apologize if this is a stupid question. The ground wire for my mirror did not come with a connector like the other two, but rather a metal ring (see photo). How do I tap the ground wire if I’m using the overhead light wiring?

The ring is a ring tongue lug that can be put on a post of appropriate size under a washer and nut. If you would prefer to use a tap like the others, you’ll need to cut the lug off, strip the insulation off the lead, and crimp a new tap onto the lead. Look into posi taps. Really easy to use and good for high vibration applications such as cars. They are very common on motorcycles which take alot more road abuse and they hold up very well In those applications
These looks great. Theoretically, I could also cut the two existing taps from the two wires and strip the insulation, then just use one posi-tap to connect them since both will be tapped to the same wire. Thank you!
