I don’t want to press it, don’t know what I would be turning on or off.

My order was cancelled. Bought a gntx-453 mirror off Ebay for $50. Same mirror as above. Lots available used off Kias. Be sure and get one with the wire connector. Many for sale do not include the wires.

Just another success post checking in. Maverick XLT no sunroof. Thanks for all the informative posts so far!

  1. Bought a Gentex-453 from ebay~$40 (Autodim & 3button Homelink & Compass)
    • Any 'Make' works it doesn't matter if its a Kia, Subaru, Nissan, Honda, etc... just get one that has wires
    • I got one with the orange compass to match the orange trim accents.
    • Glass is almost identical size as OEM, the frame is a little thicker is all.
  2. Bought a few Quick Splice (18-22awg), needed 3.
  3. Removed old mirror
    • Torx screw secures it to window, loosen but don't need to remove.
    • Then slide mirror UP towards the roof off the clip on the window.
  4. Pop off the Camera trim by just grabbing it and pulling it away from the window.
    1. It is leashed (~3-5" plastic cord highlighted blue in pic) so it'll just dangle there once you've popped it off:
      leash.png
  5. Pull the Dome trim with these super easy pro tips- No Trim Puller needed:
    • Open the sunglasses holder
    • Grab a flat head screwdriver
    • Pry trim away from the black in this area on both sides:
      trim1.png
      trim2.png
    • Pry it enough that you can grab the trim from outside and gently pull down:
      trim3.png
    • As noted in several other posts the trim tips down and the front has posts that can break, so be careful!
  6. Gentex-453 is 3wire: Hot (always on), Ignition (key in On), Ground
    • The area is tight and I didn't want to have things rattling around so I used the Ignition wire from the camera (purple with a stripe):
      ignition_wire.png
    • Used Hot (yellow with green stripe) and Ground (black with a stripe) from the dome light connector:
      hot_ground.png
  7. My cable was thicker and I needed to file away some of the Camera trim so the cable could comfortable fit through, just depends what kind of wiring you get from your Gentex-453 purchase.
    • mounted.png
  8. All setup followed PDF instructions here, pics are little different but everything worked the same.
    gentex453.png
    • I cleaned the mirror afterwards ha, just noticed all the smudges when posting.
Turns off immediately when I turn key off and turns on when I start it, no power drain.
I have a sun roof. What do you think is different about removing the light panel?

Mine is an FE with the sunroof.
I used a Gentex mirror I got off eBay.
I wired mine to the fuse box. This way, I only had to remove the cover on the windshield. The wires run behind the headliner, down the A-pillar, and into the fuse box. I did have to add a small notch for where the wires come out from under the cover, but otherwise, it works great. The hardest part was finding a good point for grounding near the fuse box.

Its no longer available :(
One of the videos I found when this mirror was first posted was by someone repairing his broken mirror in one and he said that many of the mirrors had the same internals and differed by the different plugs for each manufacturer and which functions were activated. I will see if I can find the link (I do believe I posted it so it probably is in my history). Might look for discontinued mirrors with home link buttons.

Turns out my Ebay mirror is for Homelink V3. Current Homelink version is V4. Mirrors prior to about 2010 dont do V4. Need to buy a seperate Compatability Module for about $30 that plugs into an AC outlet in your garage. Allows V4 to communicate with V3. Try to get a used mirror off a 2011 or newer vehicle. Shouldn't need the compatability module.

Does it work with V4 Homelink on newer garage door openers?

I installed the Kia A7062-ADUP1 mirror and it works with a Chamberlain myQ opener that I bought 9 months ago. I don't know how to tell if it is Homelink V4 though. I hooked the mirror up to a 12v power supply to test it before I installed it in the Maverick.

Look on back of mirror. It will have an DL3 or an FL4 in the code. 4 is for version 4. You must have FL4 to work with newer Chamberlain opener. Tell us what you found. I reordered an FL4 mirror. Will sell the like new FL3 mirror in Ebay for $30. Compatability adapter used is about $20 when needed.

Excent work. Ideal tap points as I speculated would be available vs running wire down the side and such. I have the exact mirror and will get to do this mod if the truck shows up.

I am not seeing either of those. I see E11. I actually have one of those compatibility adapters somewhere. I had to use it with an old 2005 Dakota on a different garage door opener.
