In all the Videos I have seen so far, it looks always so simple to change the position of the cables of the tailgate. I have tried it now few times to change the position of those cables to have the tailgate in the angled position but somehow I haven't managed to unhook the cables from the initial position. I mean it can't be so difficult, I am sure I am doing something wrong. Any tips how to do it without breaking my fingers? Thanks in advance

At the end of cable - The one that attached to the truck - feel around for a thin piece of metal. Like, really thin. Not structural at all.

Fiddle around with it a bit. You'll get it.

I’m scared of breaking that foil thin flange every time!

Even if that thin tab broke it wouldn’t hurt anything

Yeah, it's just a redundant safety mechanism to make sure it doesn't slip off. But unless you're hauling with the tailgate down, pretty useless. Although that thing is hard to bend for me, don't think there's any danger of it breaking.

Don’t push forward or in, you need to grab the tab and pull out.
I pulled the tab away from the side of the truck per Brit24's advice, with the cable slackened, and the cable came off easily.

If you break it, you can always order a new.... It would arrive sometime in 2024!!

Sometimes it's the simple things. Took me quite some time to figue out you had to pull down and then out on the handles so I could fold up the cover on my Lariat FE. Oh well. You'll get it.

It's rocket science. Either that or smoke and mirrors! Sometimes the easiest thing to do is harder to figure out than do it!

It is so funny, even with the other descriptions and your clear drawing I didn't get it. I showed the truck to my friend today and told him how I struggle with this and he did exactly what you are showing and told me "it is super easy". Yep, it is super easy when you think simply.........

Even in that scenario, the force of the load plus your strapping would hold the tailgate down anyways.
