I wonder if anybody else finds the center dash climate vents annoying. They blow right onto my arm. I noticed them when first driving my Maverick home from the dealer. It is quite annoying. They can't be turned off/closed... if the system is on, air will come out of those vents. Anybody else?

If anybody sells aftermarket replacement vents that can be closed, you'll have a customer here. In the meanwhile, I will be wearing long sleeve shirts this summer just to avoid this annoyance.

Every other car I've ever owned has a little slider next to each vent so that you can manually close it. Like this:

I will turn the dash vents off completely if it bothers me too much. Otherwise, micro movements until it's far enough off my arm.

Some (many? most?) people do not know how to adjust their HVAC system, including the vents it seems.

There are no vents in the rear and the entire cabin is what the HVAC system is designed to regulate.

The center vents would generally be pointed up and center-ish, just making sure that they are either straight back or left points a bit left, and right a bit right. Side vents work well either pointed down into your lap, if you enjoy that kind of thing, or up and into the window at a gentle angle so that this airflow goes past the front seats and into the rear. Nothing hits the driver's arms if you're at 10-2 or 9-3.

Front passengers can do what they want, but if they point the vents right at themselves they'll probably move them when they get uncomfortable and if anyone is in the back they'll probably be uncomfortable. Vents up and back, cabin gets to the set temp, everyone is comfortable or near it.

Next let's talk about automatic climate control. A lot of people still dial in 'LO' temp and crank the fan speed. Ford is smart and the Maverick has not only internal temperature and humidity, but they also have some bias for the external temperature registered on the truck. The recirculate function will automatically be disabled if the humidity in the truck is too high, and it will also use the air conditioner even if you're on max heat, to control humidity.

This is annoying if you are driving through wildfire smoke or past a cattle pen and you want recirculate all the time. But if the system turns off recirculate, there's a good reason.

If you put the truck on Auto3, it can blow the full range of fan speeds. When the cabin is at/near the set point it will go down to a low speed but not off. If you don't enjoy max fan speed you can just select Auto2 or Auto1 instead. One to three dots, it's not hard.

The amount of clothes you wear and if you've been physically active mean that you might need to adjust the auto preset temp, perhaps even a lot like from 72 to 65 if you just finished a hike in blazing heat. Or from 68 to 78 if it's winter and you don't have a coat. But if you know how to adjust the vents and automatic climate control, you should never have a need to be constantly poking at the fan speed. Technology is great.

When you take a call on the truck's bluetooth, the fan speed is severely limited, I think the same as Auto1, so that you can hear and be heard.

Lucky you! I’m jealous 😉
I will add that it's easy to do that in the Northeast where we really only have about two months of really hot weather and even then anything above 90° is rare. I'm sure if was in Texas, New Mexico Nevada, etc I would have a different approach with A/C.

I can't stand the noise, dust, fumes and pollen with the windows down. If it's hot, I turn on the air, if it's cold, I turn on the heat.
I love the warm summer weather so much. First thing I do when I get in the truck is all four windows down and moonroof open.

I find the location very annoying too..
But like others have said, turn it all the way to the left or right and it'll be closed.
If you don't believe us, look at it in the light, you'll see.

Ok I don’t feel like going through all these posts to see how many times this was answered or to see I’d Ford corrected the original issue so here goes.
My 23 XLT Hybrid center vents can be shut off or regulated flow by simply sliding the lever that also controls the up or down flow in the center left or right to shut it off.

When it's 90°+ outside, I do that - when I first get in a vehicle and crank the a/c. Within a minute, the windows all get closed!

I love how powerful this A/C is. It gets really hot in back of daughter's Chevy Colorado. We have 2 mini Aussies and I sat in the back on a trip to make sure they were getting enough cool air and it was amazing. But lets be a little nicer in these post people. :)
