Can someone tell me how to use the tiny steering wheel on the center console? It doesn’t seem to work very well.
I have had some practice using this technology. It is tricky though.

I hope this instruction manual helps....

Can I just plug that into my usb port? Can’t I just download a software update or something to make that little console wheel work better?
Jeeminee, can’t Ford do anything right?

And there in lies the joke. Become one with the ignore button for the regulars that answer that way, because it's how they thrive here.

I found the vents to be in that spot too. Mine has the auto setting and I just adjust the temperature or manually adjust the fan. The A/C is definitely very strong in the Maverick. There is no choice for the inner closure to adjust like you mentioned. It's only closed by turning the vents one way or the other. Cost cutting at it's finest - but it's odd because my Escape definitely had it and it's the same cost
I wonder if a used Escape vent would fit? There’s usually a lot of crossover parts like that… personally the vent doesn’t bother me but yes I have noticed it, just pointed it to the side.

This is a joke, right?

1) post a pic of an actual Maverick vent as opposed to what you posted.

b) they are modulated and/or closed by sliding the bar all the way left or right...

.
a) Not a joke. I posted a pic of what the vent should look like if it had an on/off slider. The Maverick does not have this feature, hence the pic.
2) Sliding the vent all the way to the right or left does not turn the vent off.

First world problem for sure. But hey, looking for solutions in what I assumed was a friendly club.

You are absolutely right. We are nor being very friendly. An off button would be handy. I turned my AC vents off every morning in my '11 Ranger.

My maverick vents do shut off when I move them to the L-R limits.

Now, in my Maverick, I just tun the auto setting down to low (one LED) in the mornings.

You could change the place where the air comes out to the defrost setting and turn the vents off by pushing the buttons? I do that once in a while when my arm gets cold but I still want the cab cooled.

I find that as soon as I do not want them blowing on me, I face them up to the highest point and dead center. This tends to keep the cabin temperature perfect while not freezing my arm or hand. Hope this helps. The A/C does work very well. Can't even tell it is 108 degrees outside until you open the doors....

My vents shut off 100% by either sliding the direction control full left or right as well. Same effect as having the rotary dial feature to close the vents ;)

I wonder if anybody else finds the center dash climate vents annoying. They blow right onto my arm. I noticed them when first driving my Maverick home from the dealer. It is quite annoying. They can't be turned off/closed... if the system is on, air will come out of those vents. Anybody else?

If anybody sells aftermarket replacement vents that can be closed, you'll have a customer here. In the meanwhile, I will be wearing long sleeve shirts this summer just to avoid this annoyance.

Every other car I've ever owned has a little slider next to each vent so that you can manually close it. Like this:

WRONG! Slide the center adjuster either fully to the left or right and that effectively blocks the flow of air from that vent. It blocks the air as effectively as on my other two vehicles. A good portion of the air from the blocked vent is diverted to the other vents. I find the A/C in my Mav to be very effective at cooling the interior.

I don't really use air conditioning iso I didn't even notice that the Maverick didn't have a slider to turn off the vents until you mentioned it. But I just checked my wife's Edge and my Mustang and they also do not have any vent shut off's either. Maybe it's something Ford is eliminating from all of their vehicles?

The directional slider shuts them off just like the rotary wheel on other cars 🙄

Yeah, I get it now. I didn't notice your post above until after I responded. Doesn't really matter much to me as I almost never use A/C.

Have you tried turning the fan down and or aiming them in a different direction.

To answer your question, no I don't find them annoying.
But we have been experiencing 100+ temperatures for a number of weeks now. I what them blowing on me.
I may change my opinion when our 2 or 3 days of winter arrive.
Exactly. I live in Tucson.
