I think Carvana is trying to lowball what they pay out, but start their sales prices on the extreme high end in anticipation of the market falling. These days you could do much better flipping it yourself if you can put up with it.

I've seen almost 100 near-new Mavericks being available on the Carvana website. Many of them have less than 1,000 miles. Of course, they are above the MSRP but not by a whole lot. So my question is why did the seller let go of these trucks at such low mileage? I don't see if they are making a lot of money on these after all the hassle of ordering and waiting and paying sales tax and license fees etc. I don't get it.
There will be people who buy one and realize that they don't like it. At the end of the day its a cheap and low quality truck. Most people ordered one without being able to get a good look at it or take one for a test drive. The market might still be good enough where they can break even or take a small loss on it and move on.

Many of the 2023 orders were placed by people looking to flip it and make money. If it wasn't for the order banks being closed for a while and the high trade in values on the 2022s they would have never ordered or bought one.

I agree with you, but there are people who would go thru all that hassle just to make a few dollars. About 40 years ago, my wife and I saw a TV real estate program where some guy had "bought and fixed up" about 50 homes in 10 years, just to make a few dollars on each house. My wife and I thought he was nuts, as he lived in each of the homes, and you could tell that his wife was truly fed up with it all, including him. This guy would go through all the hassle of buying a Maverick, drive it for 1,000 miles, sell it for $500 more than he paid for it, and say "I won." Insane.

A lot of it is due to the recalls. It's a risk that a lot of people are not willing to take. It may trigger some forum members here who act like they are immune to said issues in the recall, but they are not. Aside from that, lots of reasons people trade in/sell vehicles.

As for pricing - purely location based and nothing more. It's disgusting.
Recalls? My 2022 EB has not been on a single recall list. I have had zero quality or performance issues and after 15k miles and several undercarraige forest road bangs, I feel like i got exactly what i was expecting I paid for 🤷‍♂️

Quick cursory glance at Carvana inventory

Ecoboosts are around +$5k-$7k
Hybrids are up to +$10k

The ones with really low mileage (as it, 1xx) are priced on the high side. Mine has 71 miles, wonder what Carvana would give me lol.

I really don't get it. They are neat cars but we've seen the issues and where Ford cut costs. I would've been much more eager to pay around $2k for better paint, proper rust protection, etc. People paying such a high price...I don't get it.
Yes insanity, nobody should have ever paid over MSRP especially in the current market.

These trucks are awesome and people sell for the profits.

I sold these 3 less than 2 months ago. Ordered them all last September. They all have an MSRP for around $25k

Cheap and low quality? I sense you are not a fan and I question why you are in this forum?

Did a Maverick bite you in the ass?

I get that. Even higher trim levels I don't think justify the price increase. For a cheap run around vehicle sure. If you get close to $30k much better value in used pickup. Still looking forward to my hybrid xl however

Hmmm? If I could drop by dealership and "swap" any vehicle every 6-9 months and break even OTD why wouldn't I???? I even traded in a hybrid 23 maverick XLT on a 23 Tremor and threw in 5.4k. in the 1980's I was building houses and would have my personal home also listed for sale. (A builders personal residence would bring an 8-12% premium with the advantage of no income tax on profits on residence if lived in for 18 months.). Also if you have out of season clothes and clutter in storage moving is no big deal particularly if furniture is rented and kept or replaced to provide required decor for new home. Life was a little hectic at times and I had to put my current address on the backside of my phone when I couldn't remember where home was. I was paying up to 22% interest on my construction funds which changed every month or two. Had a deal with Home "Staging" furniture company that would relocate my personal effects for about $500 when they were staging new home. Kept kids in same school and once had to pay out of district fees to keep kids in same school. Did have after school day care to coordinate pickup schedule as wife had 8-5 job also. Biggest learned lesson of the 1980's was "The interest rate is not as important as is the time the money is borrowed".

can you elaborate on this one? I recon what you mean is that you should do business as usual and not wait till the interest drops. Right?

I traded in my Maverick with 4500 miles. There was a couple of things I didn’t like about it, particularly the way it drove. I had a carbonized gray XL Hybrid with the rear window, pilot 360 and a tow hitch, I waited for over a year to get it. When I placed the order there was no way to test drive it, pretty much just had to trust Ford that it was a good driving truck. When I got the call that it had arrived I went and picked it up with no hesitation, it drove great. I didn’t get on it right away and also didn’t carry a load for about 1k miles, I just wanted to break it in properly. The problems started after the 1k, when I was able to get on it a little more. 3 times while trying to pass on the highway the power cut off, it’s hard to describe the feeling but pretty much just felt as if TC was cutting off power or something. There was no chance I was losing traction and TC was kicking in at 50mph, but that was the feeling. My other issue was with coming to a stop. If regen was engaged, towards the last few feet of coming to a stop, it would disengage and it would feel as if I was slamming on the breaks, something about the transition between regenerative braking and the actual breaks is not quite dialed in yet. The ride was fine, it felt fine on the highway but at about 80mpg the steering felt wobbly, almost like a bad balancing job. Interior was very easily scratched and the infotainment kept freezing on me. Also it sucks that you have to be plugged in to use the apple play. I got a couple of door dings at a parking lot and both times the paint chipped, I’m not sure why but it did, I feel like that shouldn’t happen but it did, that was pretty much the straw that broke the camels back. Didn’t make it to the first oil change where I’m sure I would have addressed some of the issues to the stealership. To many small things made me decide to just get rid of it. I took the truck to Carmax and they offered me 27k, my msrp was 25,700 since I had a few options. In the end I decided to trade it in, they gave me the 27k as trade in value, I was able to save on about 2500 in taxes for my new truck, to me it was better than getting a check for 28,500 from Carvana. I went with a 2024 Honda Pilot for the family that I got for 1k under msrp and was able to get a decent APR, lower than Ford had me at for the Mav. I took over my wife’s 2014 Grand Cherokee overland for work and I haven’t been happier, I’m sorry I didn’t fall in love with it, I really wanted it to work but I feel like coming from more dialed in cars like the GC I was spoiled and expected too much from a basic FWD truck.
Uh oh… I just got mine and I am not a fan of fwd… I thought I might have felt that shimmie at 80 mph… mmmm I have a 2015 Honda pilot and love it… but the man is cute… so if I can remove the dead pedal for more leg room I will keep it
