I just installed a dashcam, and popped the passenger side trim off to route the cable. Pressing it back on and making sure to try to seat the two clips though still leaves the trim crooked and not flush. There must be something I'm missing here, and would appreciate any advice!

Not sure if anyone else is having this issue. When I try searching for "a pillar" the site begins returning posts with the word "a" in them.

When mine did this, it was because I didn't have the panel pushed down into the dash enough. I can't tell from your photo, but it looks like you do have it down.

I can't seem to find any information about removal/install of these pillars online, so I went out and took a couple quick pictures just to have some sort of documentation for others.

To remove the pillar I pull away from the top:

And then pull up to remove the base from the dash:

There's a bungie cord that keeps the trim attached when the airbag goes off, so I just left it hanging while routing the dashcam wires.

I see a couple places where I may have damaged a clip or something, but without a comparison piece I can't tell. And these marks are on the edge closest to the windshield.

I appreciate the advice. I tried to do just that: removed the metal clips, spread the retaining bump out, put them on the metal pillar sockets, and pressed the trim back in. But the gap persists. If I get gumption to take it back apart and try again I'll take pictures.

I had a heck of a time getting the bottom to come out; by the windshield. And when I put it back, I recall it not going all the way in one time. It is tricky to get a good look in there. So while the trim might look tight to the dash, it may not be fully clipped down there. Also confirm it is behind the weather stripping around door.

I think I made sure I was getting the trim guide pin in its hole, then snapped the trim back on.
