I've had a 2025 Maverick Lariat Hybrid for about 4 months now. The last few weeks I've come across a situation where I cannot change the driving mode (i.e. Eco, Normal, Slippery, etc.), whether I try to while driving, stopped, or in park. I can always change it if I turn the truck off and then on again. It doesn't happen every time I drive, maybe half of the time. Anyone else encounter this? Any "fixes"? Worth bringing it to the dealer to investigate? What if they can't immediately replicate it?

You are not alone; it has happened to me also. 2025 Lariat Hybrid. My 2022 First Edition Hybrid has never done this. I am going to have the dealer check this when I take it in for its first service.

Thanks, good to hear, in a sense LOL! I may make an appointment just to have them check it out. I do have a bluetooth OBD so I may look for any error codes first.

I haven't had any problems with mine but I have the Eco Boost engine not sure if that makes a difference or not.

Sometimes when I start my hybrid you can't turn the gear shift knob. So I shut it off and start it again and it's never failed the second time. I've been to three ford dealerships, no help really. I log the date and the mileage. I will probably end up calling ford.

When you press on the brake in order to turn the knob - do you hear clicking under the center console?

Notice next time it doesn't allow the turn, just press/release on the brake a few times and see if you hear it click clickty.

I've never heard any clicking sounds. I've pushed on the brake numerous times when it's done that.

Perhaps on the later 25 models Ford is starting to lock the selector knob in place to prevent the accidental movement of the knob while vehicle is in motion which some members have been claiming about? Maybe they also do not want drivers to coast in neutral. ???

Mine is a 23, there's no movement involved, it's just when you start the engine.

Ugh.
Well - unless you can figure out how to make it happen so they can make it happen, it's likely to be a problem until something finally breaks.

Sensor that reads that the brake pedal is pressed?
Sensor that reads what gear it thinks you are in?
The fact no alert or light on the screen goes off seems to mean it doesn't think an error condition that would disallow getting out of park, like a low battery or some bad transmission reading.

Hope it breaks at the most convenient time for ya!

You have a low 12v battery, a bad sensor, or might need more brake pressure when you turn selector knob to take out of park? After you have put truck into ready state and engine has started or not. Is the READY showing on in green when it's locked in park. Maybe try moving dial with foot on brake and the e-brake also set??? Good luck.

I have recorded the sound of the shift interlock when you step on the brake.
I was able to repeat the sound by repeatedly stepping on the brake pedal slightly.

I've never heard the clicking noise of the solenoid.

It never did this for the first two years I owned the pickup. In September when it wouldn't turn I called the Ford dealer and had them check my battery remotely, they said there was a 12.7 volts at 59%.
