My father-in-law was a tool & die maker for Ford. Thus, as a Union member he qualified for some kind of a plan (and no, I don't specifically remember). We used it several times and thought it was a good deal. At one point, the President of the company I was working for also owned a Ford Dealership. He told all his employees that they could buy a car at "his" cost. OK, I was considering a new car. When I told him I was interested, but also qualified for the "Union" plan, he said buy it on the Union plan. He said that's cheaper than what he, as the dealer pays for the vehicle.
