Looked confident at 80 mph with 25 mph crosswinds. I ruined my hybrid's great MPG doing that. But I just had to get a good look at the camper.

I suspect this was not a hybrid because no hybrid owner would be able to stomach getting single digit mpg this guy must have been getting.
I’d speculate the Ecoboost would turn In About 15-16 mpg at 80 with that top heavy poorly fitting contraption up there.
Looks dreadful. If it fit properly it would be more palatable.
The Ecoboost would still probably stay in sixth gear at 80. Maybe seventh.

As for the Hybrid. Once up to 80 mph the drive battery would last about, what? Five minutes, less. Then the 2.5 would be doing all the work by itself.
It would I bet still turn in 13-14 mpg but it would be working so hard.

What people don't get:

"Normal" cruising at highway speeds requires less than 50 HP.

With a trailer or camper attached, even large ones, it takes less than 100 HP.

The hybrid is just fine without tapping on the battery pack. Really.

The EB has more "excess".
The EB has more acceleration.

That's the main difference.

I've looked into the Tuktuk. $16.5k for basically a shell. 5 gallon water jerrycan? $600 option. Basic electrical? Another $5k. Also, if you go to their financing page, it autopopulates the $16.5k at a 20 year loan term at like 8.5% interest. This is why I decided to start building my own. Not close to being done yet, but I have most of the framing done for about $400.

Did you look into the GFC, Go Fast Campers. Half the price, only 250lbs with minimal area above the roof when collapse, so no need to take of truck between camp trips.

I've seen the GFC campers and they are cool, but I use the bed of my truck so often, I wouldn't want something permanently attached like that. Also for basically a RTT, $10k is quite a bit. Might as well just get a rack with an RTT. Also, the TukTuk is cool because it's an actual camper that you can cook in and has a sink.

I take my GFC off when I need to. I like having it on because I can lock items in the back, but yes it limits the size of the items. You may want to talk with people that have put miles on the TukTuk as it looks pretty high and a lot of wind to push out of the way. As far as the sink, I have a Colman counter with a sink and a butane stove. It depends on how long you intend to spend in it too. Just sleep or live in it.

I've seen these Scout campers online, but never in the wild. I think a pop-top like a Four Wheel camper would be better on the road. I doubt it's too top-heavy, that's just a shell around a bunch of air. Side winds would be an issue, though.
I'm waiting for someone to make a rear-extendable camper, that has the interior hardshell pull out to make an 8' long camper when parked.

Nice shelter but I'd have to be totally exhausted to sleep sideways inside a Maverick bed. I do have a Camp Rite solo cot tent, and plan to sleep sideways in that lying across the bed.

The sleeping platform is 6ft long, I’m 5’10”, works well for me but maybe not for others

Cool camper. Looks like you keeping it simple.
The Picture of the interior was taken before loading in my drawers/bins and cooler. I do try to keep it pretty simple and modular. I regularly remove everything (including the bed platform) to haul stuff in the truck

That would likely work for me as well, I don't fully stretch out when I sleep, but I DO put my arm above my head sometimes. I'd get used to it.
I prefer hard sides/roof over tent fabric.
