I'm going to drive up there in August.
What are the roadside boon docking rules in B.C. Canada? I plan to tow a small camper. Never been to B.C. or U.T. or AK.

Cool beans.

Back of envelope math says mine should reach 4700 miles sometime during the summer. Of 2030.

Just shy of 11 months of ownership and zoomed past the 500 mile mark last week. That includes the 33 miles on it when first drove it, brand new, off the lot last March.
:D

One thing about it, if everyone drove as little as this poster, then once people buy Mavericks, Ford could quit making them because at the rate listed above, it should last 50+ years. Just thinking of how little this is makes my head hurt, but would make my gas credit card feel good.

I have been through the Yukon and BC. I will be going back through BC on my way back home this summer. Beautiful ride. Never had any trouble. Check the Canadian travel website before you go.

BCer here. There are some forestry camps that don't have fees. Just avoid them on the weekend, if you want to avoid getting attacked by crazy drunks with hatchets, family members have left them for that reason. And before some American chimes in "just take a gun", check Canadian gun laws before you think about doing that. Some forestry camps do have fees so check them out in advance.

There are rest stops that allow longer stops for sleep, but most don't allow for overnight camping, at least in theory, no idea if it's enforced. You won't find any fancy truck stops you can stay at outside of the far south west. Provencal Parks in the southern part of the province are mostly booked up months in advance, so if you think you'll need to stay in some, better find out 4 months in advance.

You can keep track of road conditions, if there are closures due to wildfires, and such from the Drive BC website.

And then 4 years after moving to Fairbanks we moved to Anchorage by way of Chicago driving and back then after 3 years of Anchorage we moved to San Antonio Texas all this was driving I did fly once but I wasn't counting that into this this is all back in the mid to late '80s and early 90s we basically took a week one way

Thanks.

What about avoiding "parks" and campgrounds all together in a self contained RV with potty, shower, heat, food and water on board for 6-7 days?

Will they let you just "park it" in some out of the way place, logging road, parking lot, scenic pull out, etc?

Will be driving all day. Only need a place to sleep 8 hours. Trying to get to AK. Thanks!

There are a lot of kind of traveling homeless camps in out of the way places, so you'll need to watch for that as well. Some communities allow it, others don't.

I haven't spent much time up north, I think they have more of that up there. There really aren't a lot of pull offs along the southern highways, other than official rest areas. Just not how the roads up here have been designed. Most of the out of the way spots are really out of the way, well off the main highways, as in not connected. Most of the decommissioned logging roads are in rough shape, not really RV worthy, IMO. I'm sure there are some logging road pull offs, those that are active will be busy in the summer, but I don't camp that way, so cannot help too much with that. Your best best is to use google street view to preview your route.

Camping in official parks has always been good for me. Camping in the bush I haven’t encountered the crazies, but they do exist, I have however had gangs of teenagers ripping into the area in the middle of the night with fireworks and just to have a bush party… that was hard to sleep, and my wife wasn’t a fan.
