Bolt holes in bed sides.

The 2 bolt holes on both bed sides needed filling. Not sure what they are for, maybe bed rails? Wanted to fill them with something black to match spray in liner, so figured out the size and ordered these from Amazon. May have found them at local store, but Amazon delivers. They are M8-1.25 X 16mm, black coated stainless steel and come with hex install tool, came in a bag of 20 and now I have spares. I did too and they give me all the flexibility I need to tie things down in various positions. Cheaper and just as good as the bed rails.

I put these D-ring anchor points in those holes using similar M8 bolts (Philips rather than hex).

Exactly !
My beds floor rings at each end get used the most.
When I do use the bed slide rails they are great. Able to position them anywhere along the rail.
I like Fords much better than Toyotas slide system.

You removed the rails to install the I-bolts? You have a Lariat so it should have had the rails.

So that job is finished end caps and all. I like it much better, style wise it sits flatter and I made it, with a little advise from barracuda340.

No, the 2023 Lariats did not come with bed rails. They were an option. They were standard in 2022 but discontinued in 2023. Then Ford realized they made a mistake and brought them back in 2024s

Thanks, I did not know that. Seems to be a pattern with Ford changing what is or is not part of a package.
