Here again we have another vehicle that cannot decide whether it's a car or a truck. The confusion has a long history; El Camino from Chevy and the Ranchero from Ford. Maverick will suffer from the sincerest form of flattery . . . imitation.

I had one of these once and "Luv'd" the heck out of it.

My Light Utility Vehicle was also the Truck of the Year when it launched.

I had a Chevy LUV back in the late 70's early 80's. It was the same blue as yours, but not 4X4. My wife bought it for me while I was overseas on a six month deployment with the Seabees. I drove it from Pearl River, LA to Gulfport, MS five days a week for over a year (about 50 miles). I did love that truck, until it overheated and warped the flange where the exhaust connects. After that, I had to replace the flange gasket every two months or it would backfire so loud it sounded like a 3" gun going off. I finally traded it for a Honda 750 motorcycle.

On a separate note, I don't think the truck pictured in @fordtoughwait's post is a LUV but a Subaru Brat. @fordtoughwait feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

You know, I bet if those two models were re-introduced in today's market, they would find more than a few buyers. Of course, one might want to change to a more fuel efficient engine. Seems like people are looking for options over the monster truck offerings.

You are correct of course, we are being conditioned to believe F/E is the end all, be all. Me I ordered a Hybrid to see what the hoopla is all about.
I would be perfectly happy to keep my 5.4L F150 except it won't fit in new house garage.
