Hi all, quick question for anyone purchasing or that purchased a Hybrid Maverick in Ontario or any area of cold climate for that matter, I ordered my Maverick Hybrid back in August of 2023, but I hadn't ordered the block heater, the dealer said I don't really need one in Ontario, its more for super cold areas he said, so I did pass on it. I still have the option of changing my mind since I still have not been assigned a Vin#, any views or opinions on the block heater or experience with one. I'm wondering if I made the right decision living in Ontario and not ordering this with my Mav hybrid, p.s does it affect anything else on the Maverick negatively by having one installed by the factory? appreciate any feed back in advance thank you

Interesting, I thought all Canadian Mavericks came standard with the block heater
That might have just been for MY22, I think that was deleted for MY23. I haven't seen any of the dealer option lists for MY23 Canadian Mavericks though.

I've heard some people here in central and Northern BC liked having them, but it can get below -20°C there. Ford says it's most effective below -18°C in the manual. I have it on my truck, since all MY22 trucks came with them. I had mine plugged in last winter when we had a -15°C day, I honestly didn't notice any difference from a pure cold start, which I had done the day before in similar temperatures.

I don't think it's needed but it can sure help. I feel like my hybrid takes forever to get up to temp and defrost, even with a remote start cycle and heater adjusted appropriately. It's a pretty good deal for $100 or whatever it is now.

Block heater was standard for MY23. I've never used it.

Ontario is huge. You probably don’t need one unless you’re way up north in areas like Thunder Bay or Sudbury. I have never plugged in my vehicles (or even bothered to check if it has one) in 10 years living in the GTA. I relied on them frequently when living in Edmonton.

MSRP $250Cdn on MY24 order for the block heater. Doing it after the fact would be additionally cost prohibitive. For resale purposes/desirability north of the 49th, it makes absolute sense to have it. Plus, YOU have the ability to have a warm block beyond 20 below.

You can always get a head bolt heater, or block heater, installed on a vehicle based on 30 years of living in Alaska. In Arizona now, but still had my 2022 XL Maverick installed with one.

I live in the Toronto area of southern Ontario and have found using the block heater makes a big difference even if the temperature is only in the 0 degree C area. At these temperatures when I use the block the temperature gauge needle starts to move in less than 1 K but if I don't use it it takes several K before it moves. I also get better mileage if I us the block heater.

When it gets near 0C I usually warm it up for a few mins before getting in anyways. When I lived further north I only ever thought to plug in to make sure it started the next day. I have actually never seen anyone plug in a vehicle here.

Get the engine block heater. You will not regret it.
