If a fancy, upscale, luxury car can have this feature in its base trim, it should someday make it to the Mav. Lariat.

I went with a friend to a Kia dealership the other day. I looked at a Kia Soul and it was 10 grand more than my Maverick. All these fancy automatic doodads plus required safety features are why new vehicles cost so damn much.

not sure what Mav you bought but my Mav Lariat/LUX costs more than numerous base models with rear door sensors. It's not a frivolous item like dampened tailgates. It's functional and at the bare minimum should be incl in Lariat or Lux package.

Face up to it. It's a dumb omission and one that will likely be remedied at some point down the line

Unless you live in the middle of nowhere in the tundra, you'd better believe it. :ROFLMAO: If it ain't locked, it walks away.
Only if im gonna be inside somewhere for a long time in town do I bother to lock my topper windows.

I'm surprised on how people want to complain about the littlest things. So what if you have to get your key fob out, or take 3 steps to touch the front door handle to unlock the tailgate!!
I love my Maverick and I don't mind getting the key fob out or taking a couple steps.
Exactly, the only thing that worries me about the maverick is the little things, like the cv axle boots. It's not an issue for us, but it does worry me. No-one can tell me if that's a case of a small batch of defective parts, or a broader issue. Nor can anyone tell me what the fix is either, or if Ford is planning on doing a recall.

So things like that do worry me a bit. But things like having heated seats, or dampened tailgates, not so much. It's meant to be an affordable truck. As long as it does the job of being reliable, and fuel efficient, I'm not gonna complain about it not having the latest and greatest tech.

Who is complaining about heated seats and dampened tailgates?

Door sensor on the tailgate. Something that’s mostly standard on all new cars and trucks even at base trim. It’s a very functional feature, hardly extraneous.

Put it on the Latiat only or as an add on so all the manly men who want to pull the fob out every time they need bed access can continue to do so.

Mike, can I get a list of what base trim pickup trucks have this feature?

Go nuts.

Start with the Bronco Sport.

Straight up trucks, which the Mav is not, you need to bump up a trim So put it on the Lariat or Lux or make it an add on at the very least.

Did they ever fix that wiring issue, not being “controller” ready if you didn’t order the tow package. That was a design flaw I remember on the early Mavs.

is that still a thing ? Haven’t been paying attention.

I see they sell an approved harness now for non tow package Mavs.

looking back over those threads it’s funny to see the same type of comments about it being a cheap truck so don’t complain.

Yea. This was the issue in a few threads. Early days. Design flaw.

This is an update to a post I made a few weeks ago, and is information for those of us who bought a Maverick w/o the 4 pin wiring harness and tow/hitch from the factory for $100.

To recap my situation, I ordered a Maverick XLT with CP360 and the lux package on 15 October. Still not in production, I decided to do a search at the end of January all along the SE USA. What I found was an XL that a customer ordered, but had to cancel. He ordered the spray in bed liner and hard top, trifold tonneau cover. He did not order the hitch.

After I purchased it, I found an OEM hitch/receiver, which was installed today. The shop specializes in hitch and wiring installation. They looked everywhere for a wiring harness, OEM, and after market, and there’s not any being made. Furthermore, there’s nowhere to plug in a wiring harness, and Ford doesn’t recommend doing a Hotwire installation by cutting and splicing into any existing wires, as it will void the warranty.

So, for those of us that have a Maverick w/o a hitch, you can buy an OEM hitch, but there’s currently no wiring harness available, nor any place to plug into.

The Maverick doesn’t come pre-wired to install a hitch, so that pretty much sums it up. First hand info from Ford was gathered by the specialty shop, and I’m passing this along for those that want to add a hitch.

Since you didn't buy a 4K-equipped truck, why do you need a 7-pin harness? You make it sound like there is NO harness available, which isn't the truth.

I do have a 4k tow package truck.

don’t think you understand the issue for those who didn’t purchase the $100 tow package or were forced due to production issues to take one. Unlike every other truck on the planet it was almost impossible to wire even a 4.

Ford fixed it. Even though there was the usual chorus of “ it’s a cheap truck made for the homeless, deal with it”

lol

Ahhhh!!!!
First world problems.
More wheel travel first!
2 1/2” triple bypass shocks !
I don’t want a $5k flip and fold tailgate like a gmc that gets crushed by the forklift guy at the whosale house.
I think you should be able to put a switch on the harness right inside the little storage box ( harness runs right behind it) to leave power lock switched off and the time you want it to work , flip it on . Or just don’t lock truck , or move up to larger more expensive models ? Maybe the ranger lariat offers that?
My 2004 s600 Mercedes had handle detection on all doors and trunk , with proximity and the push start thingy ,I believe that was the first car to have this tech but msrp in 2004 was $144k so , I think for $30k 20 years later we are doing ok ,we just didn’t get to have the v12 twin turbo though.
I just want 12” of wheel travel!
With 33” tires!
300 hp!
3300 lbs!
33mpg!
For $30k
A boy can dream
