Better bed extender?

I've had my Maverick just a week now. I'm enjoying it, but I'm looking for a more versatile bed extender than the ford or amazon options. My biggest issue with them is when you need the whole bed, where does the extender go? It's big and oddly shaped.

I also have a Ram 3500 with the rambox option. The extender is ingenious in that its also able to be divider anywhere along the bed, due to the flat walls and no exposed wheel wells. That wouldn't work in the maverick, but the more important things are that is very rectangular, not missing much area on the tailgate, and it folds flat. If you find yourself needing the whole bed, like from a random purchase- I do that a lot- the extender folds flat and can store easily in the bed or in the back seat without taking a ton of space. I want to have the extender available in the truck all the time, but not in my way if I need the full bed.
Ford has a stowable F150 extender. That would work, but the design isn't easily adapted to the maverick. I've already determined a way to use the ram extender in the maverick, but it means mounting hardware that would intrude on the 48" width and prevent carrying sheet goods.
My latest thought is to install 3-4 rivnuts in each side of the bed . Then use knob screws to quickly attach and remove mounting plates for my ram extender.

Ford use to have a heavy duty plastic ones for the F150's that folded up on each side. It connected to the same pivot point as the metal one. I had one and loved it!. Wish there was a solution like this for the Mav.

It would be cool if the otherwise hollow tailgate had something like this as part of the design.

That is really pricey for plastic and it doesn't square off at the tailgate edge. Wow, with tax a grand! I'd make one out of an aluminum ladder with some hinges to fold up.

It is a little more squared-off than the OEM one. The one time that I needed to have the tailgate closed with the bed extender in the bed but not rotated to the middle, I just removed it from the side brackets and nestled it against the inside of the tailgate.

It's like any factory accessory, 1k from ford but usually $100-300 on marketplace. If it was even close to adaptable I'd be fine with it

That one looks nice for that style, I'm just looking for one that stows away better. The f150 extender breaks down and folds up. The ram extender folds up flat

All truck tailgate are hollow. And Ford would gladly ad it if they thought people would pay 1k more for the truck.

I’d pay say $250-300 for a baby-gate that is in the tailgate that I could like out and slot into retaining holes.

wow - ok - i was just showing the example of what I had. I did buy mine on marketplace (over 8 years ago) for 125.

I liked how it folded OUT OF THE way so I had the full depth of the bed.

That's kind of a neat idea.
In an emergency I wonder if you can use it as a ladder?

Straight from my dealer to my house and that oh so useless $350 came with my Maveruck bed extender went right in the basement.
It’s never moved.
I’ve got straps.

I've been trying to figure something similar. Multi-function extender, ramps (unequal length tri-fold), bed divider, ladder, and seat back for pillows when truck bed lounging. Might even function as a attachment point for bags etc. kinda' like a molle panel. The goal is that they could be hung from the inside bed sidewalls (both sides). Rough measurement shows at least 9" of vertical space above wheel wells. Something like 9" by 40" by 3" in the folded position with and extended length of 72".

I found this: Extreme Max Similar to ready ramp, is cheaper, includes two, and can be joined to form a single ramp or ladder . Unfortunately it looks like full size and I could not find dimensions.
