Maybe but Maverick Manual says 5W-30 unless -20F I think and while T6 meets these specs below, it doesn't list the ford spec WSS-M2C946-B1

API: CK-4, CJ-4, CI-4 PLUS, CI-4, CH-4 ACEA E9, JASO DH-2, Cummins CES 20086; Volvo VDS-4.5; Detroit Fluid Specification DDC (DFS) 93K222, Caterpillar ECF-2/ECF-3, MAN M3575, JASO MA/ MA2, Allison TES 439, MB-Approval 228.31

For what it's worth I used it in all my BMW Boxer Motorcycles.

So in other words, its only rated for diesel use and does not pass the required Ford spec.

Any full synthetic which meets API SP and ILSAC GF6A, which is all of them now. Those updated specs address concerns specific to DI engines. Rotella T6, which is great oil for its intended use, does not.

Yes sort of (some of those specs I listed are motorcycle specs based on Moly content which slips wet clutches), but more it wasn't specifically designed for it, but same result. Diesel engines require different base & modifiers based on the fuel and operating conditions that gasoline DI or otherwise injected engines.

It's a lot, but simply find the spec Ford requires and use ANY oil that meets it by reading the label on the back. Within that spec not really a better or worse oil except personal preference or cost or other personal reason to use one versus another.

Bulk oil is usually cheaper than individual quarts, and convenience of amount of oil or easy pour spout or other items usually drive my decisions. For example one of my vehicles requires 5 quarts, so the 5 quart oil from Walmart is just easier and cheaper than buying 5 individual quarts. It was the same oil sold in a number of other places but no-one else carried the 5 quart jug of that spec of oil.

Rotella T6 is pretty popular in a lot of diesel applications, mostly because 5W-40 is a diesel oil weight. I always recommend going with whatever brand specific applications call for. Maybe I just enjoy selling 5 gallon buckets of oil at the store because its an easier sale.
